Texas @ OU 01/02/2025

Just rewatched the game. When you take away the ref reviews it clocked in at 12 minutes beginning to end. :smokin:

(True fact: the final 48 seconds took 16 minutes.)

When a win takes almost everyone on the team to win it. When it takes playing time from 11 players, and whether they played a short time or a longer time, their play was crucial for whether Texas was going to get out of Norman with a win, I feel like that fact alone will create a team we haven't seen with Vic before. I've never seen him play 11 in a conference game. It has great potential to keep your transfers lower when everyone contributes to success and hits the floor, when they know they were part of it at the big moments of the season, and this was one of them. I have never seen Codio play in the first quarter of a conference game, and I was so happy for her, because she wouldn't have been out there if she hadn't earned it. Here's to a deep bench, and building a team to be reckoned with. It's much harder to gameplan for 11 than it is for 5-7.

12 point deficit largest comeback win for Texas since 2019. It’s really nice having numerous offensive weapons
At that moment I was not panicking, but just thinking if we could just cut it in half by halftime that we could be okay. Instead, we ended up taking a one-point lead into the locker room. Rori was critical in steadying us in that second quarter with Booker on the bench, that really helped us get back in the game along with Kyla's and Jordan's scoring.

Lol I screamed at Vic to pull the pressure back some, then it started working. OU was dog tired, our team was too but handled it better.

Texas with a 14 pt turnaround in the 2nd Qtr. Have we ever seen a Vic Schaefer team amass that many freshman minutes in the first half of a conference game? Highly doubtful. And they did a great job! I don’t think the rotations are going to be as tight this season as we’ve been accustomed to and I’m cautiously optimistic. We’d have a bigger lead if Carlton was hitting buckets like her usual self.

All in all, I’m very pleased with the first half considering the early foil troubles.

I know what’s up with that? It’s available on TexasSports site
The foil was on the heads of the ref's. They had ITF syndrome. (Invisible Texas Fouls) Blowu should've been given 2 techs on the brawl. Vanderhslut threw an elbow to start the whole thing.

Did ANYONE have “Texas Better than OU from the Three “ on their bingo card? I certainly did not. Nor did I have “Texas Better than OU from the line”. And I sure as hell didn’t have “Texas Wins With 16 Fewer Rebounds”

Certainly did not.

Didn't have 54 total fouls for the game either......

As suspected, two players . off the bench Oldacre and Lee stepped up big time tonight. Carlton didn't hurt us on defense, but she did miss shots that are normally automatic for her. I'm glad she got to play those extended minutes, and see how physical it really is in the big girl leagues. I think this was a very important game for her in terms of experience.
I actually thought Justice played really well like you said minus the poor shooting. I think she will become one of the best 4 or 5 we have ever come to the 40. I think she enjoys the contact too.

I agree, she seems to play within the offense a little more than Moore and Jak

I’m trying to decide if I should point out your accidental misspelling of her name or laugh at your purposeful misspelling of her name.

Thought it was an interesting tidbit from one of the announcers that Jordan Lee said that she was not sure why Texas was working so hard to recruit her. She noticed there was always at least one Texas rep at all of her games and that really got her attention and, eventually, her commitment. Great hustle coaches. You got a good one.

Yep, no way Texas wins without Lee. Amazing she outshot a team that lives off the 3 by herself.

When you catch and shoot in rhythm, whether it be within the framework of the offense or in transition, typically you shoot the ball much better. If I recall correctly all of her shots were from of one or the other. I still like to see Rori step into her three-point shot in rhythm more... I know she's capable of knocking those down.

I will always quietly be a fan of Ndjakalenga. I think she could have a role on this team by season end. She has the length and quickness just lacks the consistency.

That explains my Lack of skill on the court and Elaine Benes style of dance. No fricken rhythm!

Very grateful to get the opening SEC win on the road at OU as we have not always played very well there the last few years. To be honest, I wasn't predicting us to win because I didn't think we'd have enough offense without a healthy Laila Phelia. Wasn't convinced Shay Holle would come out of her funk (which she didn't). But, somehow, the team fought hard and pulled it out; total team effort.

I won't even get into the officiating, but this game hardly went as I would have thought:

- OU out-rebounding Texas decisively with Raegan Beers only playing 18 minutes due to foul trouble

- Liz Scott scoring 14 points and looked unguardable; don't think she's ever had any success against us the last 4 seasons or so

- OU shooting 2-16 from three-point land while we shot 4-6 thanks to Lee

- Booker only scoring 8 points in 18 minutes due to foul trouble; honestly, she and Beers basically offset each other. Not sure I'd have taken that trade if you asked me before the game

My biggest concern going forward is the lack of productivity from starters, Shay Holle and Aaliyah Moore. These are upperclassmen who need to lead by example. We are lucky to have Lee and Carlton to pick up the slack, but true freshmen will be inconsistent throughout the season. Not sure if it's time to shake up the starting lineup as I worry what it would do to the confidence of those 2 relegated to coming off the bench in favor of two true freshmen.

Same. I love her offense-minded game, and I love that she has stayed at Texas and challenged herself to improve her game.

It’ll be interesting to see if Moore has a role today…..or plays. She missed several games just prior to OU with her knee. Recovery from knee soreness in 2 days seems problematic

I am also a fan. She has an aggressive mindset and that's fun to watch. The length you refer to - to me she is kind of gangly. Getting the long parts to work together seems to be a struggle at times. When they are working, she is quite an offensive force.
