TEXAS-IOWA STATE Game Thread

Great effort to win this tough tough game ISU is a solid team. Our young D backs struggled, in the end were good enough. The two turnovers we got were the difference in the game!!

Congrats Horns!!

A win is a win but the quarterbacks they will see going forward will have a field day with this secondary if they don’t get better. And time s short.

One glaring difference for me was the lack of offensive creativity or diversity, they were so predictable on offense. this helped Iowa st look better on defense and thus Texas look worse on offense. I don’t know why sark wouldn’t continue to be unpredictable on offense. I don’t get it. Not only did the secondary take a game off, sark took a game off.

Matt Campbell pulling a Mike Gundy from 15 years ago. Settle down dude. It was a clean hit and good call on the fumble and review by the zebras.
Frankly, this has aged well I think. Still gives me a chuckle. I guessed the age of this Gundy rant perfectly too, so I’m happy. (Note I am currently sober.)

From my seat, it looked like a clean crash into the shoulder pad...which is what it ultimately seems to have been observed as by the zebras...
Yep. Hit by elbow to ball to cause the fumble, and hit by shoulder and mask to shoulder pad. Not “targeting” (which should really just be the old spearing rule…)

Treat every game like the ncaa basketball tourney, just win and advance.
Except you don’t go into a playoff at the end of the year, Texas had to have serious style points to remain in the conversation for the cfp, you can kiss that goodbye for good now. No way we are considered now, we barely won that game with QE at qb and rightfully so.

Shoulder pad moved back several inches - clearly a clean hit and for once good officiating.

Bingo! You and I watched the same game. Couldn't believe how Sark was struggling with play calls. Maybe his expectations were too high for Ewers. IDK, just glad we pulled it off. I'm thinking they won't have another bad game like that.

Game of missed opportunities, but a huge win for this team. I need my defense to get the F&$@ of the field on 3rd down. And maybe man the guy up who is their only player? We went man to man against WVU and it was great. Stress headache, but team grew up a little more today.

Way more ISU offense than I expected. Only Tceh has scored more against us this season. Their QB and wide receivers are improving.

Didn't watch the Tech game, but this was the worst game I've seen us play this year. Good to to see us get wins after bad performances. :hookem:
Hey, ISU makes teams look bad because they are a bunch of junk yard dogs. They have the best D in the conference. They have lost 4 games by a total of 14 points .
Our team played good enough to win. I’ll take that and be satisfied.
Next week is going to be another dogfight. 2 of Our d backs are freshmen. And you just can’t hide inexperience. :hookem::hookem:
