TEXAS-IOWA STATE Game Thread 2023

Yes. Sweat was a 3 star recruit.

The player development at The University of Texas is nothing short of Phenomenal!

:bevo::bevo::bevo::bevo:

People may not remember or even know that Sark came very close to uh asking Sweat to transfer out after Sark's first season. They had a come to Jesus meeting and Sweat hasn't looked back since.

Kicked field goals on 4th down. Worked the game clock and victory formation at the end. These things were not done in the last few seasons under Sark. Good win!

Solid solid solid and solid, that is the word for tonight performance. The Horns had to be solid and they were. There were some incredibly frustrating mistakes in the first half that kept Texas from being up 10-14 at the half but the second half was just one long gut check and the Horns more than answered the bell.

All tonight means though is that Texas is still alive. Fart around next week against a Tech team that made it clear all year long that their whole season hinges on winning just one game and all of this ends up meaning nothing. Texas is a much better team than Texas Tech but that won’t mean a thing unless they show up and prove it.

This team is so close to just stomping someone’s ***. I think Ewers shoulder problem limits his arm strength on deep throws. If he gets a couple out in front of Mitchell they are long long gains if not td’s. One resulted in interference and one the db was able to make a play. The db was beat on both plays. I think he was short on a throw to Worthy as well. A td called back on a holding penalty that was not much of a hold and is hardly called and literally never called on Texas opponent. The block in the back was, in my opinion marginal as contact was first made on the side and then the defender turned. Worthy’s fumble was a good hit placement by the defender but he has to do better at protecting the ball. The fourth down play on which they scored was an inexcusable defensive alignment. The front seven had been stuffing them all night. The only thing you don’t want there is a big play and the defense set up to give it up. Still a very solid win on the road with everything against you. I think that cyclone guard now knows he has just seen the best defensive front he had played all year.

once again, we overcame the opponent and the officials.
Still can't believe they call that PI on a long ball that landed 5 yards out of bounds. So uncatchable.

Is this close?

10 -1 !!
As I said in a post at the start of the season about Sark's past winning records.
Nobody has done it until they do.
And now he has.
And a conference championship is in play.
I have slain the crow.
It is in the process of being plucked.

Last night was most assuredly, not an ugly win, Texas took control in the second half and every time Iowa State looked like it was going to get back in the game Texas answered the gut check and had a big drive or a big stop. That is completely different from the ugly and basically trying to give away wins against TCU, Kansas, State, and Houston.

Thank you for taking the words out of my mouth. :hookem:
