Texas High School Football

Interesting game. It looked like PNG was more consistent and disciplined for most of the game. SOC was penalty plagued and inconsistent, but they made enough plays to keep them in range. Second half SOC athleticism took over and PNG looked wore out. Great game.

PNG looks very well coached

For the first time since Doug Etheridge left almost 40 years ago.

Guess why? PNG did not let the educrats nor well-meaning parents be involved. They hired Todd Dodge to advise on the hire. He recommended Jeff Joseph, son of Katy HC Gary Joseph, grandson of Coach Eddie Joseph, longtime head of Texas HS Coaches Association. Jeff was DC for Riley Dodge. PNG defense resembles Katy's defense.

Remember this is the same school that chose a coach that only stayed two years finishing second & third in district those two years in spite of having 28 kids offered scholarships over Gene Mayfield who turned Permian into a dynasty. Same school that hired Brandon Faircloth while Phil Danaher's resume sat on superintendent's desk.

LC,

I got on the front row of the second level, but I arrived about 3 fortunately with a handicap parking pass. Lots were full of purple that early but the people I talked to left the Reservation around 7/730. Shift change at the plants is 7/715/730. Little town was well represented, and I was told the police department still put up the signs "Last one out of town turn out the lights".

Entire police & fire departments were at JerryWorld. Same as always, the Nederland PD patrols Port Neches with the attitude that anyone on the streets doesn't belong and will be held until PNPD returns.

As much as we dislike each other, Nederland reportedly decorated their HS in purple and white. Don't think the Broncos ever did that for MOJO. :beertoast:

Aledo isn’t messin around and about to score again. 14-0 already. Is it wrong that I want College Station to lose for no other reason than…….ya know, College Station?

The DFW-area teams really showed out this year:

Aledo
South Oak Cliff
DeSoto
Duncanville

All win state titles. Houston, San Antonio and Austin area teams all shut out. Dont see that too often.

The Dutch are class folks.

Duncanville was bound beat NS eventually. Im more surprised Katy lost to Vandergrift, who then got blown out by DeSoto.

8.8 miles from DeSoto HS to Duncanville HS
9.9 miles from Duncanville HS to SOC HS

Now that's a cluster of some good HS football programs.

And if you take I-20 until you're just a little ways West of Ft Worth, you'll hit Aledo.

and if history repeats itself, one of those teams not named Aledo will eventually be stripped of their title.
