Blind ump on that strike call on Titanic. 12-18 inches outside. Welp, as long as our pitchers start getting strikes called when it’s that far outside…

:idk::idk::idk:

Wtf!!!!
That was maybe 2-3 inches outside (if even) and Gordon doesn’t get the call, so it’s a walk. The strikeout call on Ivan was over a foot outside—possibly a foot and a half…. We’re getting jobbed by biased umps.

If an ump has an outside strike zone—>ok. Just be consistent!!!!

Gordon gets a ground out, and two pop outs, to get out of the inning with no scoring.

Gordon has given us 5 solid innings with only one Tech run. That’s what we needed. Good job Gordon! 3-1 Horns after 5 innings.
:bevo::bevo::bevo:

He may be good for another inning, but his pitch count is getting up there a bit.

Yeah!!!!!

Silas drives in Staley from 2nd (after Staley’s double). RBI single Ardoin.

4-1 Horns

Good baseball by our Horns!!

Let’s see if Coach brings Gordon back for the bottom of the 6th.

5-1 us

….

Gordon it is!

85 pitch count to start the 6th

Fantastic grab by Hodo at the warning track!!! Buy that man a beer back in Austin, Gordon!

:bunchananas:

2 fly outs and a K, and Gordon gets out of the 6th with no runs for the inning.

Gordon’s pitch count: 100

Great job by Gordon.

Going into the 7th. 5-1 us.

Enter Robinson
1.80 ERA in 5 innings of pitching
2Ks
2 Walks

Hodo drills Robinson for a stand up double off the wall. Tech is very, very deep into their bullpen.

I understand, but I disagree about being average. I don’t know how far they are going to go in the playoffs but I expect these issues to get tidied up and we go deep.
I’ve told this before on this forum but we lost a three game series to Kansas either the last championship year or the one before that, my memory slipped a little bit, but Kansas!! They aren’t good at baseball, wrong sport, but when the playoffs started they refused to lose and won it all.
This team stepped it up in the playoffs last year and I expect they will this year. Time will tell but average they are not.
We might very well be really good by the playoffs. At that point, we will not be average.

Our bats have been good to fantastic for their entire series.

One unprecedented, awful, horrendous, inning by Tristan, and a two error inning in the first game, and end up 1-2 for this away series. Such is baseball…

Our pitchers are either great or we are giving up grand slams, putting batters on base, or watching folks steal home. Fix the latter and we are good like at the beginning of the season when we beat Tenn and LSU.

Gordon has proven that he well deserves a weekend starting spot. His development is exactly what we needed. And this was against one of the better lineups in the college game.

On the rise:

Gordon. Sub 2.00 ERA, solidifies weekend starter position

Messinger: Well out of early-season slump, now hitting over 0.350. Also showing some serious power. This is why we brought him in from KU.

Daly: Bat finally starting to show some life.

I hope we win every game. But objectively speaking, fan-wise, that was an exciting series. Two out of three games were tie ball games that went to extra innings. The only lopsided game was Sunday where we both bashed them on O, and shut them down on D. Not too disappointed. This is a good ball team.
