Horns look to end their three game losing streak and end their spring break visit to South Carolina with a win. Game is at 6 p.m. and is on ESPN+.

The Horns are in a bad stretch but the season is young and if you are going to have a bad stretch, March is when to have it. Should see a bullpen start today and hopefully some freshman and young pitchers who step up as there is a clear opening at the four spot with DuPlantier's struggles.

Temps in the 60s, possibility of thunderstorms late afternoon/early evening.

The Citadel: a small school in Charleston known for good academics and their military-style Corps of Cadets. It's something of a Confederate-like version of West Point. Unlike West Point, it is not actually a part of the military.

"The Citadel traces its origins to an arsenal constructed by the state of South Carolina to defend white Charlestonians against possible uprisings of enslaved people following the thwarted Denmark Vesey rebellion of 1822."

They play at Joseph J. Riley park--a baseball stadium also used by the minor league Charleston River Dogs.

Strikeouts, strikeouts, strikeouts.
A strikeout pitcher; really goes for the strikeouts. Played for the Upper Valley Nighthawks in New England Summer League--where he pitched a lot of strikeouts. Also played for the Florence Flamingos--where he pitched a lot of strikeouts. Streaky--has the occasional really bad inning, but gets lots and lots of strikeouts.

Has "devastating stuff..." Can strike out the side in any given inning. His breaking stuff really breaks down late and hard. Also likes the high fastball as another strikeout pitch. Throws the occasional wild pitch. Has been known to give up the longball.

College of Charleston hit a grand slam on Beckley in 2021.
Beckley was also a really good high school quarterback.

Anybody else on here old enough to have had Dr Clarence Lasby for American History classes? The football team occupied the first three rows of his class (BEB 100 I think)

He started the first day with, (deep Southern accent) "My name is Clarence Lasby, a true Son of the South, graduate of The Citadel & University of South Carolina. You may be asking yourself how a True Son of the South got to Austin Texas. Well among the things I love most in life is winning football teams and good seats to watch that team, and this University gives me both".

They trot out Dunn to the mound. Sidearmer who just walked two of our guys. Liking this.

Ugggh. Staley struck out swinging on a rising sidearm fastball. Dunn was lucky to get out of the 1st inning.

Nice looking ballpark.

Nice grab by Kennedy. Short fly ball to left field that sent Kennedy into the 3rd base line wall. Good piece of outfielding.

You don't plan to say anything silly about first inning grand slams tonight, do you?
I was shocked with DuPlantier, and after giving up a grand slam in his last outing. With the loss of Witt, and DuPlantier not seeming what he once was, these young guys like Stewart, Morehouse, Eckhardt, etc have got to come through.

Stewart’s breaking stuff really breaks! Did you see that strikeout pitch! Wow!

Shucks. If the infield was positioned a tad differently, Faltine could have made the throw. Probably a prudent move not to make the throw to first with a speedy runner.

Stewart is throwing some stuff with crazy dropping movement, but then he just hung a big piece of meat right over the plate and the Citadel batter jacked it halfway to Fort Sumner.

Freshman…

And here comes Skye—lately with the coldest bat this side of Siberia.

C’mon Skye. Snap out of it.

Ha!!!! Control problems you bet. Wild pitch by Dunn!!! 2nd and 3rd. No outs. Faltine at bat.

Let me try this again…

Here comes Daly—lately with the coldest bat this side of Siberia.

C’mon Daly. Snap out of it!

Ummmm. Wtf was that?

Centerfielder lost the ball and the right fielder caught it. Runner tagged up but he supposedly left third base early (they’re not showing it), and he’s out when they throw it back to third.

Never seen that before.
