TCU opens as fav over Texas

Well Mc, BJ played and I guarantee he was hurt.
He sure was. I'd rather have a walk-on (one of the speedier ones) play than a man who is injured to the point that he can't tackle well. That's what it looked like to me anyway. And I really like BJF. I just don't like him playing when he's obviously injured to the point that it's severely affecting his tackling ability. Who knows, maybe he'll be healed up enough where he should be playing by this Saturday? We all know he's a real tough guy. He has nothing whatsoever to prove to anyone on the toughness front. Sometimes, it's better for the team to sit a game, or more, out.

The problem here is that the young fast players don't know the correct alignments like the older slower injured players.

I get the whole "we beat Tulsa by 7" thing, but Roach is on defense. We didn't allow 48 points to Tulsa.

Also, nor did we ever trail in that game. In fact, Tulsa never had the ball with a chance to take the lead or even tie after the 1st quarter.

TCU probably has at least half of its starters who feel wronged they weren't recruited by Texas. That and our lousy D, I don't have much confidence in Texas beating them in Fort Worth.
I agree with a lot of your post ^^^.

I think we win because: 1) Sam is head and shoulders above the tcu QB, 2) Our receivers are really good and should have a great game; 3) tcu QB's are not in any groove, have low confidence and that spreads to teammates quickly IF we can slow them down and be up 10+ by halftime.
I think we will. But its gonna be a close game.

You weren’t very good with LSU predictions, TCU did outscore Kansas by 37 with that 0 offense you referred to.
Comparing
scores usually is a waste of time. B
y your definition then LSU should be embarrassed by the fact they only beat Texas by 7 and very well could have lost the game.

That's a problem.
To be fair one DB one the field has to know all of the alignments. Safeties are the logical ones since they are the furthermost DB's from the LoS. Texas' issue is putting 2 Freshmen Safeties on the field instead of 1 Freshman and an upperclassman. Gideon comes to mind since he wasn't the best safety on the team, but he seemingly was the only one who knew the alignments.

College students...why should they be able to figure it out? LOL

Some other opening lines

Wazzu at Oregon (-13.5)
Penn St at Michigan St (+7)
Oklahoma St at Iowa St (-7)
Wisconsin at Ohio St (-14)
Auburn at LSU (-12.5)
Notre Dame at Michigan (-4)
Michigan over Notre Dame?? Could be....I guess, but not based on anything that could have been witnessed to this point.
Same w UT/TCU.

From Inside Texas

Jalen Green is set to get the start at one corner. The other corner has become....dramatic.

Brennan Eagles practiced yesterday and was with the team today and characterized as “happy.”

My two cents -- I would not mind seeing Duv moved to Z, opposite CJ, bumping both Eagles (to rotation status) and Epps (out of rotation). Start Jake at the slot. But they say Coach Meh loves Epps so this appears unlikely as long as Meh hangs on

While we are at it, why not run some 4 WR sets? Drop the TE
This wont happen either because of Herman's reliance on the TE, but I would still like to see us experiment with it, since we easily have the WR depth to do it. Too often defenses are allowed to ignore our TE as a pass catching threat. I dont think we tried to flex Brewer and go deep to him until that one attempt against Kansas

I am still waiting to see Roschon throw the ball from his RB position -- thought for sure we would see it in the OU game. Maybe we are saving it for TCU? :hookem:

The thought that a program like Texas would have to wait to run something is whats so disappointing. Kind of like Herman saying the new Kansas OC left UT confused on what they would run. I understand its better to have the knowledge but if our DC was worth his 2M then we can play D regardless of how they line up. You think any other top 10 team would cry about not having film to work from?

That was his role exactly because Hall was not always there and Gideon, as a coaches son, understood all the defensive assignments and usually did not blow his own responsibilities. He was not the most athletic, but he was the most responsible.

He currently is the Safeties & Special Teams Coordinator Coach at the University of Houston.
