Spring practice halted

NO, NO, NO! You do not tackle like that!
That's too violent. It sends the wrong message to the opposing player and team – one that can hurt feelings and make others feel threatened. Not to mention the possible heartache of the player's parents who may be watching from the stands or at home.

The other team may make that player a target, for example, a low as in knee level, blindside block to take out a knee as a little payback.

You do this kind of tackle to make a statement to an OPPONENT team ... not a member of your team during practice!!!

At the same time, in a game, this kind of tackle will make that statement but it would also be very likely get you a 15 yd penalty for UNR or USC.

I remember when you did that to the bear at Angelo's in FW.

:coolnana:

The bear out front at Angelo's BBQ in Fort Worth never had a chance ... he had a purple TCU grilling bib on and was looking out the front door. I was angry and nailed his *** with a Nobis face mask tackle....he did not get up!

And, I think you envisioned the bear as a combination of all your least favorite West Mall posters. Bear was DOOOOOMED!!!

Nice write up.

On paper, we'd have to go back a long ways to look this good on D coming into a season. I'm especially liking our DTs and CBs. My sense is that we'll (finally) have some really good LB coaching, so that position group should :arrow-up::arrow-up::arrow-up:. Just tackle guys--tackle, tackle, tackle.
Guess Tom baked the cake. Lol

If our pass rush is good, this D could be very salty.

Jacoby Jones and Thornton on the edges, with middle push from Coburn/Collins/Sweatt/Broughton.

Just tackle guys. Tackle, tackle, tackle. Coach K's Ds looked pretty strong on fundamentals.

I'm old and the memory is foggy, but I seem to remember having fundamentals under Fred Akers & Leon Fuller, but haven't seen any for some 35 years. Will I like it?
You'll like it all right!
And you won't find yourself losing your voice during games screaming "TACKLE!!!"

I like the "under center" part.

What a novel concept, particularly in short yardage situations. Do I understand correctly, the QB would get the ball at the line of scrimmage rather than 5-7 yards deep? The QB would only have to run 1-2 yards for a first down rather than 5-8?

WOW! How did that idea not get included in the binder?

You forgot the oddity of handing the ball off with the RB actually moving towards the Los rather than standing still when they get the ball.

Very interesting bit in this quote here from JWhitt.
Read it carefully...

"but was put in unfortunate situations "
I'd love to hear clarification on that...

Apparently, Jordan is a young man of modest goals..

Among other goals for the year mentioned by Whitt were winning the Heisman, marrying his supermodel high school sweetheart, starting a techcompany and selling it for billions, turning pro, signing a multimillion dollar lifetime endorsement contract, feeding all the hungry in Africa, writing a bestselling novel, and bringing about world peace.

I did not bat an eye ... just thought he meant injuries were unfortunate ... but I dunno for sure
I wasn't sure...thought it may be a veiled reference to either how he was utilized, conditioned, or some other factor related to the management of him as a player.
Says "but was put in unfortunate situations"
