Spring practice halted

One of the things I've speculated and that has been mentioned before here, and now I found support finally in recent reports of, is that TH played favorites (both in recruiting and on the field) and Sark will not. This approach must be applied in business and in sports if you expect to maximize results. All positions open for competition at all times and only the best man gets the spot.
This one change alone will have enormous impact on what we see on the field moving forward.

Agree so much Rain ... wish we had Sark for the Simms v. Applewhite days

One day...I ordered some company pens.
Now, pens pens pens everywhere pens. All over the screen in pop ups, banners, videos, flashing ad boxes, scrolling, at every turn...pens.
If "they" are so smart then why can't they understand... I already purchased pens.
One only needs so many pens.

Getting off topic, but this always boggles my mind. Every time I order something I get inundated with ads for whatever I just bought. And I use a VPN.

It seems to me like Whittington and Moore are the 2 best WR's on the team, at least until Omiere is healthy. Why not move Whittington back to slot and get the most talent on the field?

Here is but one more updated projected depth chart...

Texas football 2021 projected depth chart, mid-spring offense

Notables include Card over Thompson, Whittington over Moore, injured WRs Omeire and Smith to come back and start, and my own personal take: This could be best oline we have had in recent memory.
Thanks for linking that.

Good to see Jaylen Garth has apparently healed up and is projected as 2nd team OT. Karic could be an All-American before he's done on the 40 Acres. Hookfin to OG--many saw that one coming with his increased size and strength. Also, it sounds like Okafor has really kicked it into high gear. He's been moved around so much--he may not have been developed much by the previous regime. Seems like he's a natural OG, and Sark is really positive about him (claiming Okafor has been our best OL thus far). Amazing what good coaching can do with raw talent and athleticism...

Barring injury or setback, Okafor is on track to go round 1-3 NFL draft if his current trajectory continues

I love this kid Card, but me thinks somehow Thompson starts in Sept. I could be wrong.....

I have the same thoughts. Depends on whether Sark wants a heavy run game with the QB keeping, or heavy passing game. I suspect we might see a more balanced attack overall, but Sark will exploit the opposing D's weaknesses, so gameplans might change from week to week based on the opponent. They might also change during the game depending on what is working the best. So, I guess we'll see come kickoff for the season.

I was very impressed with Thompson in the bowl game.
I also remember Heard having a mind blowing game only to disappear.
I don't think Sark wants to use the QB in the run game to the extent Sam was used.
Won't be surprised to see Card start as the competition is pretty equal.
Neither has started a game and both learning new system.
I believe the one that picks up the offense the best, throws a catchable pass and makes good decisions will start. (Captain Obvious)
Also, I won't be surprised to see both play.

Both of your comments made me think / imagine more what the landscape might look like come fall - especially the early part of the season.

2 very talented QB's, with different skill sets, limited game experience, operating a new offense, opponents with different defensive sets week to week....

I think Thompson may the have the edge and get the eventual nod to start. However, early in the season Sark may choose to alternate QB's some to exploit opponents weaknesses as Joe pointed out and agreeing with Moon, it should be no surprise if both get some early PT.

Exactly. The competition during the Non-Conference games should be interesting. Hopefully, Sark will be able to play both in those games to determine which is the better QB and can lead and motivate the team on the field. I'm looking forward to kickoff.

Yeah, I failed to mention leadership as an important factor. Not sure Thompson or Card is the better leader or if they are both about the same.

NO, NO, NO! You do not tackle like that!
That's too violent. It sends the wrong message to the opposing player and team – one that can hurt feelings and make others feel threatened. Not to mention the possible heartache of the player's parents who may be watching from the stands or at home.
