Spring Game 24

My take on Aggie math is it could be 2 wins. One outright win and one moral victory by the scappy undermanned team that ran out of time.

Ok so I’m not making any claims about injuries or the lack thereof but anyone else notice the ummm, ‘different’ drills during the warm up the team went through? I can say I’ve never seen those exercises, ever. Do we have a new conditioning team or something? Lots of twisting, particularly of upper body while doing leg exercises.

It was great to see all the beautiful passes by both manning and owens. If they werent zipping them in there they dropping them in there. Long and medium passes were on the money. Not worried if QE goes down or even if manning goes down unlike past years.

There’s been about 7 Westlake players with success in the NFL. 2 of them were Super Bowl MVPs. Another is the GOAT kicker in all of NFL history. Another won the Outland Trophy and appeared as a guest on the Johnny Carson Show. We currently have 4 Westlake players on the 2 deep roster..one of whom was absolutely instrumental in the recruitment of Arch. IMO, Ethan Burke, was the Defensive Co-MVP with his batted pass for the pick 6. The Westlake Football Brotherhood Forever!!! We have embraced the hate for over 50 years. Westlake is the high school analog for the University of Texas.

The dark side of this entertaining spring game.
The national media is going to be lazy and focus on how Arch is the better QB.
I predict on Horn fans after the third series of the Colorado St game the talking heads wil break out this way
60% - Ewers
35% Manning
4% Owens
1% Lourd.

Just because its 2024 and just because we have a 3 year starter and just because Ewers is expected to be a high draft pick and just because the coaches see them every day in practice never seems to effect the QB longhorn fan base expert contradicting analysis coupled with the soothsayer group that claims a deal was made with QB 1 ( or his parents) that he would start if he signs here without exception.

Every year, here we go.

I think on a fan view, we all like to see how our new offense is going to look. What do the young QBs look like, how are the new Receivers, etc, etc. I don’t ever view the Spring game as being defensive, because they aren’t allowed to rush or attempt blocks and tackles they would in a regular game. Just my take on it. Look at the OU and A&M Spring games. I don’t know what format either team used but the OU game was over the top Offense, whereas A&M raved on their defensive transfer allowing him to make 3 sacks.
So, yes I am happy that if the Mighty Quinn goes down we have two good QBs that can step in. A place we haven’t been in many years.

i also have to say that was the most entertaining spring game ever. However i am kinda worried we showed too much. for example, the first td pass from manning to moore when the receivers criss-crossed each other and moore was wide open going down the field. and secondly the last td pass from owens to wingo when again the receivers criss-crossed and wingo was open in the endzone. Is that showing too much or am i worried about nothing. well, i suppose if you do it in any game doing the season opponents are on to it and they probably are on it already anyway even before this spring game. What is remarkable to me was this spring game was much like a real game. Usually there is plenty of stoppage during spring games for one reason or another but this one seem to play out like a real game. It was fun to watch.
I think Sark has won over every longhorn fan that there is even the most critical ones and i have been critical at times in the past. But i have realized that we had depth issues and now we have thorobreds that enable us to go full throttle. Oh and lets not forget the culture has changed dramatically from a few years ago. Every player seems focused and plays their best or they will be replaced.
Surely the horns "are back".:trophy::usa:

Yesterday's performance by Arch Manning justifies a discussion on who will actually lead the Horns to National Championship. While Ewers' two brief series is nothing to be concerned about, Manning's release, arm strength, pocket presence and athleticism appear to be better than what Ewers exhibited last year. That said, Ewer's has real big game experience which can only be replicated on the field and in the moment. My bet is that when given the chance Manning will rise to the occasion. Certainly the next three seasons look very good at QB for the Horns.

Remember that Murphy looked like he should be the starter in last year's spring game.
He was outstanding in that game.
But didn't look so hot when you had to take over in the real life situation against real competition.
I think Arch is going to be awesome.
But Ewers is the man for this season.
