So Texas Is #21?

I don't care about respect at this point. I will later. But agree with any confusion.

3 whippings and 1 loss to a Top 10 team.

Texas did not crack the Top 25 this week in either poll but is the #26 in both. But, Clemson stays in with 2 loses and one of those loses is to a non-ranked team NC State.

The Sons of Clem would have been out had they been where Texas was at the time of the piggy debacle. They started up top while Texas started low...it becomes easier to drop the lower teams after a bad game. And, the jury is out on Tceh at the moment despite the numbers they had come in with...

Weakness around the conference probably didn't help perceptions either...cockroaches lost to Pony Excess, land thieves have sucked balls the past few weeks, with an almost-loss to the team that lost to the turtles a few weeks ago. To say nothing of the fact that Kansas is, well...Kansas (who lost to Duke, and NOT on the basketball court).
 
Let’s see how the GA - Hogs game goes this weekend. If Jefferson can play, I expect for the game to be close. Arky is better than most believe, and Georgia’s win over Clemson isn’t looking so impressive anymore.
 
What I would love to see is Hornsby do his best freshman James Brown impersonation against OU, and surprise UGA and the world. He is a better QB than the starter, just lacks experience.

How did Hornsby end up at arky after heavily recruited by Texas, aggy, and UNC
 
He wasn't "heavily recruited" by Texas. Let's just say it was Herman being Herman.

Not sure what happened to A&M other than they had the kid from Bridgeland wrapped up two years ago.

UNC is a long way from home and expensive airfare.

I'm not. Optics count. And the arky loss was a national broadcast. The Rice and Tceh mudholings were regional broadcasts.

Add in the other conference factors I mentioned yesterday and it makes sense. But as Kenny White uttered a few weeks ago on VSIN, you are going to see LOTS of shakeups in the top 10 as the season progresses and we will likely see NO major program go undefeated this year. The polls don't take into account the parity that has come to the sport...and as a result, you still see votes based on pedigree...and the Texas brand has been rank more than rank-worthy for the past several years.

Keep the gas on and rankings will take care of themselves...I actually like not being ranked...it keeps the kids motivated precisely because of the slight.

Tech was not a regional game. It was the only game ABC had at noon that day. College football Week 4 TV schedule and preview - The Washington Post This week's TCU game is also national. College football TV schedule 2021: Where to watch - Sports Media Watch

Nonetheless, you are undoubtedly right that the Arky game drew more eyeballs. The story line of Texas getting an SEC taste-test was very compelling to the national audience. Hell, it was even covered on the sports news up here. It's really hard to steal precious seconds away from the Yankees when they are fighting for a playoff spot.

I agree 100%. If we mudhole TCU and comfortably beat OU, we will rocket up to where we need to be. Being ranked lowly (or unranked) in the meantime will help us accomplish those goals.

A prime time telecast will ALWAYS be expected to draw more eyeballs than an 11AM kick...this holds true with bettors as well as with voters (especially when you realize that the bettors in Vegas had to be UP before 9AM to see the whole thing). You have to be MOTIVATED to be up for an early broadcast. Meanwhile, everyone is comfortably lubricated by the time a national prime time game hits the air...especially when it is the most notable game of the time slot.

The 11AM game often has other draws on Fox, FS1 and the other regional/conference networks with which it is competing.

Yep! I live in Tucson, so Game Day starts at 6AM and first games, as you pointed out, start at 9AM. I only turn on Game Day to watch when they pick the winners portion of the show.
 
I don’t put much thought into rankings, especially when it comes to AP. Never the less, yesterday I booked the trip to Morgantown NOV 20.

And even that is barely worth watching anymore...

The 11AM Central start leaves us with the same problem West Coast teams used to have..."late" games meant that the East Coast writers were asleep by the time the games started. Now we get 11A starts and the West Coast writers aren't up yet.

And the coaches poll seems to be driven by the programs that have the strongest Twitter game with highlights.

SH, you definitely know this player much better than I do, but in the game last Saturday, he was an obvious and massive liability, a fumble or interception waiting to happen on every play. He may indeed have a special skill set but from what I saw, it will take patience, time and masterful coaching to bring him up to speed.

Perhaps by year end, or next year.

Or perhaps with a week of reps with the first team...complete with a game plan designed for him.

It is all there, just needs to be coached up. His weaknesses in HS showed in his two state championship appearances against Duncanville (??).

He reminds me of Donnie Little coming out of Dickinson. He wound up at Arkansas because of the numbers game. We had the kid from Tompkins locked up for nearly two years, then Herman lost him to Alabama. That was ok because we had Ewers committed until we didn't. He has the tools, but needs a good mechanic to place them in a position to utilize them.

In fairness to your doubts, he also reminds me of the Shepherd kid that came out of Odessa in 77. Committed to Fred then flipped to Third Ward. His career pretty much ended in Rice Stadium when we had 65,000 fans chanting his name. He came in and immediately fumbled inside Houston's ten.
