Sam Contemplating

Stop trying to be a Simms apologist.

I'm not. I'm just trying to be objective, and to put some context in that most of our fanbase has forgotten (and many of them forgot while it was happening because it didn't fit their preconceived conclusions). I think if both guys were healthy their whole careers, that although it'd be a close call, I'd take 4 years of healthy Major over 4 years of healthy Chris.

But I also think that the majority of the context and details that have been lost make Chris unfairly look worse than he was, so I'm going to bring them all up rather than just picking one person as a side and always going for "my side right other side always wrong"

With Major, we scored 27 points, Chris got us 10 and then the wheels came off.

We're not giving Major credit for the 7 scored by the defense now, are we? :D And then again, 7 others came too late to matter. It was like Georgia's final TD against us two years ago to make that game look close. They moved down the field against deep zones while our D just tried to prevent the quick score, and they finally got in the end zone so late that it didn't matter much.

The point isn't that Major played badly, or that Chris didn't have an awful first half but that it's gonna spun over the years into "Major played the game of his life and was unstoppable in the 2nd half", which simply isn't what happened.

Your second quoted text block wasn’t written by me. I watched that CCG too. My opinion of the game was that the team with Major at QB put UT in position to win barring the roughing the kicker. Chris did not. Again, I was never engaged in a Chris vs. Major debate, but simply arguing that Chris deserved the criticism.

Announcer said Todd MShay has Sam as the 12th best QB in the draft...thought he was rated a bit higher.
That would point to coming back you would think, though I'm sure many other factors are in play.
I love Sam but am in the let's see next man up camp FWIW
