Right Field U-Hauls/Busses

Thanks for the kind words, I'm just thrilled this worked out. I had reporters tell me that "You know you'll never win." Well, we did. Compared to what we had, no parking whatsoever, this was a win. It was a win for UT baseball and UT tradition. It may not be one of the longest running, best known or hallowed traditions, but the people in right field are a tradition nonetheless.

I really would like to invite those of you who supported us and have never gotten the chance to watch a game in right field to stop by some weekend and say hello and enjoy this unique and fun experience. I know the bus owners are very proud of the support they received from Hornfans and would be happy to show our gratitude to those who have helped us in our hour of need.

Lookin forward to next Friday and gettin off to a great winning start. I'll be on the smaller ice cream looking truck. Feel free to stop by for a beverage and to enjoy the view from right field!

This is GREAT news. Me and two other friends all bought buses this last year for football tailgates, etc. We had planned on bringing them out for baseball games and I was a little bummed by the news. I've already called the other guys and we are getting our buses ready to roll!!!!

sshorn, could you send me an email, at [email protected], so we can exchange contact info? We may have to work out some logistics if you plan on bringing in additional buses. I can speak on behalf of the other existing bus owners that have been out there the last few years.

After all this, the last thing we need is a big fight every Friday morning for spots.

IRF, great news that you guys were able to win the battle over APD and UTPD! I'd like to stop by and have a beer or two with you guys at one of the games. One question though, what are you guys going to do if there are cars already parked in the spots that y'all want to park your buses in for the games?

If we get there first thing in the morning it, technically, shouldn't be a problem. The area will be designated a tow away zone so people should not leave cars over night. But if we do have problems, I'm supposed to notify the city official that we have been working with. The city wants the buses there, they understand the importance and tradition of the people being in right field. At the same time, they want to be fair to all people and don't want to appear to be favoring us.

Got a call from my contact & drove by to take a look at the Disch in general around 12:30 today. There was a COA crew out there changing the signs.

It's now "No Parking, Tow Away", from 2am to 6am.

our ice cream truck isn't small, just more compact than a bus.

So why was there only the ice cream truck in the zone in question all weekend? The only other bus was in the zone that's been marked available for parking all along.

After all the hoopla, I figgered all the buses would be out there.

one bus is under maintenance... the other bus is MIA for >>>????

So...who's been leaving their bus(es) parked overnight in the "no parking 2am to 6am" zone?

Someone has.

This isn't helping the cause of the buses. Further changes are already in the works.

As of the Stanford series week end, both busses (a bus and the bread truck) were parked in the unrestricted zone. The restricted zone runs from about where Kyle stands in right field to the south about the length of 2 busses. There were only cars parked in that area last week end...no busses.

The city left an area that allows unrestricted parking. Why shouldn't we park there? We have NEVER left a bus/truck in the restricted parking zone over night except for the weekend of the VCU series, which is perfectly legal. Ever since, we have kept both in the unrestricted area. The city and the UTPD has my phone number and hasn't said a word. We are just abiding by the signs they put up and monitoring any changes. My hope is that they will just let sleeping dogs lie. If they make changes, we will respond accordingly.
