So in today's news, Bryce Young and Will Anderson (both expected to be very high first round draft picks) are apparently going to play in the Sugar Bowl vs KState, despite needing to prove nothing to anyone. I really wish Roschon and Overshown would at least reconsider playing. If we look like crap against Washington without our best players, it starts to make you wonder why we as fans should continue to dole out tons of money for these overpriced bowl tickets.
 
Wife and I actually decided we’re going to go in to San Ant because haven’t been in a long time and always enjoy it there. But, with the three stars out we will watch game on tv unless some cheap or reasonable tickets fall into our laps. As a die hard fan it my kids cannot believe we’re doing this but sometimes you just have to draw a line. Wife refuses to sit in top section and lower level

hence the need for a 12 team, 14 team or 30 team playoff to get rid of these worthless bowl games.

I do see your point and it is valid
But having attended all the Texas Bowls for years including some pretty worthless ones, Bluebonnet, and the Texas Bowl examples
I can tell you as game time rolls around and you are waking to the stadium with other fans, the band comes out plays the Eyes, the team runs on the field Well You are So glad to be there it does not feel worthless:hookem:
We have been spoiled, well until lately
Think how schools that don't usually go or who have never been feel when they get to a bowl.
I imagine Incarnate Word fans had a great time.

A buddy of mine’s son (non UT) got to go to a bowl game ~15 years ago. The excitement he and his dad had changed my mind.
I’m for as many bowl games as possible.
Life’s hard enough, if these bring joy - I’m all for it.
If people don’t want to watch… I understand as I have seen 0 this year as of this writing.

A lot of these worthless bowl games are actually very good games even though they have no bearing on who is the greatest team of all time or even our time

I am just a fan of the game of football and I love the little bowls all bunched up at the end of the year. Add in all the HS championship games and it is a smorgasbord for us mere fans

I don’t really care who wins the demo derby elimination ordeal that is emerging, though I feel for the good players who are going to see their bodies and pro careers wrecked trying to win it

Wife and I got to Little Woodrow's on Burnet yesterday at 11:00 and watched Kansas BB, NFL, Bowl games, UT Volleyball Natty and Texas High School state championships until 10:00 last night.

I loved going to the bowl games when my son was playing. Reward for playing hard throughout the season. The teams don't necessarily look at it like fans. It's different when you're playing in the big games than the smaller bowls, but they just like all the fun things the bowls have for them, and the swag. It's more of a release and they can have fun.

I don't have data to back up my link but do note that a lot of players get hurt in games every year and some have their careers as players ended. I was worried for a couple of years that one of my favorite high school players, Jordan Whittington, would never get to show his stuff at the collegiate level because of recurring injuries.

And I also note that several UT players this year look to be avoiding our middling level bowl game for fear of getting injured and wrecking or damaging their pro prospects. Whittington, Ro and Bijan?

Do you see the incongruity you posted? You posted you feel for players who might wreck their pro careers by playing in a bowl game. Yet you can not name one player to whom that happened. And while there may have been I couldn't find any either.
Then you correctly point out that players get hurt in games every year. Yes regular season games. Isn't it those regular season games that put them in position for NFL contracts?
Players don't seem to opt out of regular season games.

Incarnate Word is FCS. They were playing to advance to the Championship game, So YES, they/their fans were excited. They played a great game against an excellent program.

But I do agree with your post. I attended the Alamo Bowl in its infancy. I didn't know anything about the teams involved, but it was a good game & I had a good time. People who came/come had/have a wonderful time.

Glad to hear that, Sabre. San Antonio is a very hospitable city. However, locally the Alamo Bowl has a TERRIBLE reputation (well deserved) among the disability community. Glad to hear the Bowl staff are more helpful and accommodating to other guests.

The year that Washington State played Iowa State, I was coming off one of the seven surgeries resulting from me trying to dance with a mare at the ranch and she didn't like the way I led. I called the Bowl people to discuss parking, etc. They set me up with front row parking in the handicap lot on the South side of the dome. I literally only walked about 25-30 yards to the entrance. They even called my cell to make sure everything was ok.

We drove from Houston directly to Chris Madrid's because my grandson thinks it is his birthright to eat at Chris' whenever he gets close to Bexar County. Mike Leach was his hero (along with Drew Brees). The bowl put us behind the Wazzou bench. When the game was over, we got in the car and pulled out onto 37 at midnight, got back to Houston about 245, repacked and got to NOLA about 3.

The Rose Bowl should hire the Alamo Bowl to teach them how to run an event. For that matter, the Rose Bowl could take lessons from the Bandidos on customer service.

Probably the most prominent example is that of Willis McGahee out of Miami who was projected as a top 5 pick. He blew out his knee in the Fiesta Bowl. Late 80's I think.

Safe to say many many more have injured themselves in regular season games out of a pro career since then

That occurred against OSU in the BCS championship game in 2002 or so.
 
Players of which I am aware hurt in bowl games include ...

There was another really good S Carolina RB… who lost his career due to a bowl game.
 
It is of course a matter of choice for the player.
I look at Caleb Williams who is playing and think there is a team player.
What is his projected Draft pick?
