Random Season News

Can't link it but there's a story on espn college football page that Kobe Boyce is stepping away from the team to concentrate on his mental health. Says he's battled depression for many years. Wise decision and I wish him all the best.

We basically put Pooka on that list.

In two years as a underclassmen he has combined rushing and receiving 2689 yards and 14 TDs. And he's rushed for 6.0 yards/carry despite very little support from the rest of his offense. His best games in terms of rushing yards:

2018 Oklahoma (252 yards, 16.8 ypc, 2 TD)
2019 Texas (190 yards, 7.6 ypc, 2 TD)
2018 Rutgers (163 yards, 8.6 ypc, 1 TD)
2019 Iowa State (154 yards, 8.1 ypc, 0 TD)
2019 Oklahoma (137 yards, 6.0 ypc, 0 TD)
2018 Ctrl Michigan (125 yards, 8.9 ypc, 2 TD)

If anything, Oklahoma put him on the map, although we helped as well (his 9th best game was also against us).

Offense should be better - better OC, QB, RB, OL depth, TE. Defense should be way better (less DB injuries, better DC and use of DL). Only reason we are not #1 is because of Herman.

LOL - 350 is apparently the limit for DT.

Imagine this offensive set.

QB Sam Ehlinger
RB Bijan Robinson
WR Malcolm Epps
WR Brennan Eagles
Slot Jordan Whittington
Slot Jake Smith

That is actually enough firepower to rival Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State. I think only Epps wasn't a top 100 recruit of that group.

Or just our running back room
Bijan: 222
Rojo 227
Ingram 222
Young 215
Decent OL play and we are off and running
Is that too much to ask for?

I would submit there are three reasons we aren't #1

1) Tom Herman

2) Linc Riley

2-A) Tom Herman

3) Mike Gundy

3-A) Tom Herman

Or to summarize:

Riley: Shown the ability to take over an elite program, compete consistently at an elite level and go the the CFP

Gundy: Shown the abilty to win consistently at a back water program, coming within an eyelash of a BCS title game with inferior talent.

Herman: Shown the ability to sucker smart people out of $20M in four years, while being unable to lead a 4 car funeral.

The largest guys --
NT Keondre Coburn: 6-2/348
NT T’Vondre Sweat: 6-4/348
OG: Tope Imade: 6-6/355
OG: Willie Tyler: 6-7/335

But the starting OL dropped weight
By design? Or due to "other factors?"
Cosmi: 6-7/309
Angilau: 6-6/294
Kerstetter: 6-5/293
Okafor: 6-4/317
Jones: 6-6/310

It certainly is..
.. IF you have a tier 1 offensive line.
