Gun laws don’t work
The driver here was a "wanted felon"
Yet it’s supposed to be illegal for a felon to own a gun
Dude had 1200 rounds of .50 cal ammo -- I would be asking where is the gun it goes in?

Last night, I was visiting my parents, around 9 pm all of a sudden I hear 5 shots. I immediately recognized them as 9 mm rounds (very distinct sounds). I ran out side and two doors down from my parents house the neighbor had shot and killed his son-in-law.

Evidently this was a very bad individual, my neighbors daughter had moved back in to get away from him and he kept coming over. He was told not to come back. Last night he came over and attacked my neighbor, my neighbor who has a CC pulled his gun out and shot him. The legal process is going to have to be worked out but the police didn't arrest the neighbor so to them it was a legit action to protect himself and his family.

This is pretty big because there isn't a lot of gun violence that happen in gated communities on the north side of San Antonio.

Evidently this kid was a gang member and now the neighbors are concerned about retaliation.

Yikes. Not sure if running that direction was the best idea you ever had

I have my CC and I always have my Glock with me. I didn't draw my weapon as I was assessing the situation. I was not going to draw my weapon unless there was further escalation or more shots were fired. As soon as the police came I backed away. I must add they arrived within 15 minutes of the calls that were made. I think every neighbor called.

Thank heavens for the SAPD, Always back the police. We can't give an inch to the idea of de-funding them.

Damn, what was the daughter of someone who lives in a gated community doing getting with a gang member? Trying to get back at her dad?

Strictly speaking, it would only be illegal if he had a prior CONVICTION for a disqualifying offense. If he had no prior felony convictions, then he could own the weapon.

And...if they were able to possess the gun, they were smart enough to keep it away from the other felonious conduct lest a zealous prosecutor attempt to claim use or exhibition of a firearm in the commission of a felony offense (with the affirmative finding requiring half of the sentence to be served FLAT before becoming eligible for parole).

If they HAVE a disqualifying offense, then I am guessing they will ALSO be hearing from an AUSA in the near future...lots of agencies turning weapons-related conduct over to the feds since those prosecutions often result in a sentence that does not commence until the release from the State sentence (because many defense attorneys don't realize such things and plead out the State case first).

The county prosecutor here is a piece of work

Thank God we live in Texas. My parents neighbor was never arrested he stood his ground and shot him. Evidently there will be no charges pressed. He would be in jail in a place like New York or St Louis.

I will never live on the East or West coast of this country. There is no constitution outside of Red States.
