Predict Texas Longhorns vs Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

Terry Bradshaw is nowhere to be found for a week or two after the game.

UT 40
LT 21

Good passing offense vs many young CBs—we’ll win but they’ll put some points on the board. Message to Orlando: NO Prevent Defenses when we get up a few TDs.

Cearl we each have logical probing minds that ask the hard questions.:smokin:

I just hope those higher score predictions for LaT are wrong. I am expecting the D to set the standard with the very first game.

Just now checking. Albeit in C-USA, they were 8-5 last year and have won bowl games decisively the last 2 years.

Hmmm. Texas better not go into it lightly it appears. I still say we hold them to less than 20.

They will score high.... Orlando will trot out his gimmick defense and his 3 man front, and they will light us up. That 3 man and gimmick defense will allow LT to have long drives and keep our offense off the field, thus making it a much closer game than it should be. You saw last season. That is what happened every time we used that 3 man front. Even lost some games because of it. It has its place ( 3rd and 35 to go, etc....but not as much as we use it ). We don't have the DTs to run it. You have to have a Tommie Harris or Ngdamungkong Suh to run that defense effectively against a good offense. Even then, rushing only 3 and using "late" blitzes gives a good QB time to slice up a good secondary; and allows a mobile QB to get to the second level . Did you see the Sugar Bowl ( first 3 qtrs ) THAT is what we need to do. Even against Big 12 teams... We are supposed to be DBU. With the studs we have in the secondary we should be able to use 4 down linemen, use early blitz packages; and not have to worry about coverage breaking down. IF LaTech sucks, we can do anything and kick their butts. But if they are good it won't be easy.

Not a typical non-p5 cakewalk opponent...
LaTech is a solid program and will be a good team this year. The team that hung tight with LSU last year should be at least as good this year.
Won't he shocked if we crush them, but odds I think say no, and I do not believe it would be an indictment of our program if the game is close-ish. Also, no way to keep team from looking forward.
Ehlinger will want to respond to TBs criticism.
Tech's Offense legit but their defense not up to task. This isnt 2018 LSU offense they'll be facing.
Burnt Orange(no kool aid) 38
Bradshaw's 27
Five things you need to know about Louisiana Tech

I interpreted to mean Bradshaw was their best known "alum" (not sure he graduated), making Kix Brooks #2

:beertoast:

rumor has it he was too dumb to get in LSU.......if that is possible. BTW Phil Robertson (Duck Commander) is also a LA Tech grad........in fact he was the starting QB when Bradshaw arrived in Ruston.

34-21 UT wins. That is the floor, I hope.

Could go to 45-17, I think. We will get a good gauge on CB and the front 7.

WR will hopefully not be too challenged, so the other good gauge will be on Ehlinger connecting with WR, the running game and OL run blocking.

Hopefully if we do well, Thompson will get some drives. He and the walk-on RB will hopefully also be previewed for evaluation.

I hope the D plays better than some of these predictions.
Why do you think LaTech can score 20 or more?
WHY? Because we learn by the end of the game that we have issues in some of the two, three and four deep rosters...and they should get at least the entirety of the fourth quarter to show that those issues exist.

I also expect that we will have at least one starter in the secondary that shows they are quite adept at trying to tackle air but are not adept at wrapping up a ball carrier...

Oh, and while it won't go for a score, there WILL be at least two plays where someone in the secondary tries to make a pick and not only misses, but allows the receiver to go for 30+ yards.

That being said...I have Texas giving 21 points and do not expect to sweat it.

Sam stays in far too long to pad the stats, throws for about 275 while running for another 125 and is responsible for three TD's. Offense scores another through a broken tackle and nice gallop (whereupon we never see the RB again until three or four games have elapsed). Add a special teams score and a few field goals from Dicker The Kicker, and I see the final as.....

Texas --44
LaTech --16
