Post Right Wing looniness here

When asked why a Myanmar-like coup can't happen here Michael Flynn says "No, I mean it should happen here."

That dude is a 100% certified loon and traitor.

As expected, Flynn now says he didn't say what anyone with a working ear can hear him say and claim it's all media "fabrication". Heck, some heard him say it and defended it. These public QAnon folks are all the same...say crazy statements then when rational people say "that's crazy" they point the finger at the media

This is going to get interesting:
I always said that he needed to have some people around him who would speak truth to power. He has not added them to the rotation and all he hears are "yes men" and pretty "yes women".

Pretend all you want but what he actually said was No reason it should happen here.
He was asked why a military coup like what happened in Myanmar can't happen here
He said there is no reason I mean it should happen here.

People are deliberately twisting words like they did with President Trump's wirds in Charlottesville.
Disgusting and desperate,

"I want to know why what happened in Myamar can't happen here?"

"No reason, I mean, it should happen here. No reason. That's right,"

The cheers of the audience indicate that we all know this is the case. Deny these things all you want.

If you find yourself defending a former US military officer who just said we SHOULD have a military coup in the US you should check your patriotism claims at the door.

That is the antithesis of every life lost by our soldiers.

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it. You don't get to tell Flynn or anyone when the government deserves the support.

And calling for, encouraging, and/or covering up an attack on OUR government should be synonymous with supporting OUR country all the time. We supported years of Benghazi hearings but not 1/6/21? Weak sauce.

So if Trump wins in 2024 and decides all democrats should be placed in prison, you would support your government? Of course not. What keeps our country free is the fear the government has of unreasonable treatment of its citizens and the refusal to follow the constitution. This includes isolated cases like the treatment Flynn received from the Justice Department in an effort to overthrow the 2016 election.

There are legal and lawful ways to protest your government in a Democracy. Support of a coup or Marshal Law (Flynn recommended this to Trump in Nov/Dec) is treason and should be treated as such. As a vet, there is no way to spin that as patriotic.

The only reason for coup would be if the Democrats gained total control of all branches of the Federal Government and then proceeded to do these things:

1) Raise tax rates through the roof
2) Reparations
3) Open borders
4) "Free" college and medical care
5) Defund the police
6) De facto outlawing of free speech through PCness
7) Ramping up of white privilege campaign as happened to the Jews in 1930's Germany
8) Complete destruction of fossil fuel industry without regard to the consequences
9) More foreign aid to UN for climate change
10) Large scale gun control laws

ETC. ETC. ETC.

It would be so incredibly destructive and unacceptable that something would have to give. These are the things that are on the table and are being aggressively pursued.

But we're not there THANK GOD...

But look at this:

University professors hit back against opponents of critical race theory

""Critical race theory is concerned, above all, with addressing the literacy deficit in this country around race," explained Thomas. "Critical race theory starts from the idea that you cannot educate young people to take up their responsibilities as citizens unless you also give them a critical racial literacy."

These are TENURED untouchable elitists who will take every liberty in the classroom and push back aggressively on anyone who attempts to regulate their indoctrinational techniques.

Do you have the entire clip? What else was said?

It was a Q&A which is why someone from the audience asked the question "Why, what happened in Minimar[sic] can't happen here?" My assumption is that they went on to the next question but would happily entertain the possibility that he corrected the statement. In his response today though he didn't say he was taken out of context but rather claimed he said the exact opposite of what he said, the statement that drew cheers from the crowd. He accused the media of fabricating his statement. Evidently ventriloquism is a new key skillset of the media.

I do welcome Flynn now saying "there is no reason [a coup] should happen here". If he used very poor sentence structure in his response say so. Don't point the finger at others because the crowd clearly believed he was supportive of a coup.

Flynn even emphasized "should". There was no semblance of a contraction which is why the crowd was so enthused. He was speaking directly to the crowd that believes the election was stolen, that agreed with the 1/6 insurrectionist and continue to push local election officials to "audit" the election.

I'd like to hear the entire clip before drawing a conclusion. Too many times both left and right will parse or snip audio bits and pcs of interviews to push a false comment / incomplete comment/ narrative. Trump's speech about Charlottesville being the prime example

That's fair.

Indeed there are, but when those don't work, give up? Would have gotten Rosa Parks far...

Good audio of the clip. It puts context into the words. Also, a Major General Ret. calling for Flynn to be court martialed.

What do you call all the violence and property damage on the Left?

Does voter fraud fall under "coup"?

By your reasoning, only one guy suggested an overthrow, so it's no big deal.

Property damage should be prosecuted. Can't speak for other cities but in Seattle they are prosecuting looters and arresting protesters that break windows. Do you think I support that?

Flynn should be prosecuted just as he was for admitting to lying to the FBI during a routine security interview.

In my opinion Flynn made a big mistake and needs to apologize. However, I don't think it borders on treason or a need to be court martialed. While I believe he was railroaded in the Russian conspiracy crap he doesn't do himself any favors getting involved in the Q nonsense.

You can do whatever you want to Flynn... I'm just trying to figure out how a bunch of yahoo's who thought Trump told them to do what they did is Trump's treason. We know what he said. He said peacefully. Those folks who thought they heard a dog whistle are absolute idiots and should all be nailed to the wall as far as I'm concerned. But anything that is outside of our legal process is a form of an insurrection and we know that NOTHING done by street activists from the Left is questioned by Liberal leadership; instead it is encouraged with more literal language than Trump ever said leading up to Jan 6th.

I'm all about the hypocrisy. And the hypocrisy is one of the biggest problems we have. When both sides engage in it then we'll never get anywhere, ESPECIALLY when the voters refuse to see it.

He's in deep. There is at least one theory that he is Q. Possibly coincidentally, his company's initial logo that he started in about 2016 had a Q prominently displayed. I'll have to find it.

The FEC complaint against Trump and the National Enquirer for the hush money payments paid to former Playboy model Karen McDougal has been resolved.

The outcome? National Enquirer is fined $187k for election law violations. Case closed. The audio of Trump directing Cohen to make the payment apparently had no bearing on any of the 4 Republicans on the FEC, only 1 of which would have needed to agree Trump was culpable to include him in the punishment.

That's a win for Trump. He's got Cohen and David Pecker who were throwing around money to pay off McDougald and the formal record shows he was clueless. I'm not sure his supporters believe that Trump had no idea his prostitutes were being paid off. Still, Trump claimed victory.

Prosecute him based on a snipped video. Brilliant

Trump has a supposed affair with a Playboy model. How does this event affect your life? Was she on the board of Burisma? To engineer a deal that would stuff his and his family's pockets?

My guess is a man of his wealth could nail many a Playmate if he wanted. It's their business, not mine. He wasn't using his political clout for gain as opposed to.... you know who

I asked SH, now I'll ask you. Do you have the entire clip? This was about 10 seconds of audio

What was his follow up?

He used campaign funds to pay her off. Seems like a legal issue to me. Isn't that what got John Edwards into some trouble?

It's not a legal issue that can't be paid. It's legal expenses.
funds being used “to fulfill any commitment, obligation or expense…that would exist irrespective of the candidate’s election campaign or…duties as a holder of Federal office.”

Obviously, paying off an extortionist is not an illegal use of campaign funds because without the campaign, the obligation wouldn't exist.

Your hero Jesse Jackson spent $750,000 illegally and got busted for it.

It was a clear election law violation. Enforcing the law used to be a core tenet of the Republican platform. Accountability and all...
