Couldn't disagree more. Public Ed is the thing that allowed this country to blow past so many other countries. You can certainly argue that it can be improved and it has been used to promote specific political issues, but Public Ed is a cornerstone of democracy. I grew up in a pretty poor household. I can't imagine what my life what have been like had Public Ed not been available. There is no way my mom would have been able to provide an alternative for us.
The country was built before public education like we have today existed. It's completely unnecessary and a huge problem today. Parents don't get a say. They teach corrupt government ideology. Democracy is about giving power to individual people. Public education takes power away from families and puts it in the hands of government bureaucrats.
In the current system where public school takes all the money, your mom couldn't afford it. But if the government wasn't taken all the money and pouring it into their schools, your mom would have had multiple options she could have afforded. In general, public schools in poor neighborhoods provide poor education anyway.
