OTHER GAMES

Jahan Dotson of Penn State with back to back incredible catches to keep them in the game vs Ohio State, the 2nd one (which was probably OPI, to be fair) for a TD to cut it to 31-19 early in the fourth.

Meanwhile, Mack is getting roughed up by 1-4 Virginia to the tune of 41-20 late in the third.

Crushing blindside sack on 3rd and 9. PSU will get the ball back down 13 with 4 minutes left. Tough situation still, but it's not over yet.

Well, phooey! Air Force vs. Army game for 7 Nov has been cancelled - apparently COVID is spreading at USAFA, and they've put the Cadet Wing on lockdown with only online classes and no athletic activities. This would have been a chance to win the Commander-in-Chief trophy with a W over Army. It doesn't appear that the teams have an open date for which they could reschedule the game.

11/7

Clemson v. Notre Dame -- At South Bend. Trevor Lawrence is out with the virus. Clemson struggled against BC without Lawrence at the helm, and this is the best Irish team in some time. Clemson is also down 1 starting LB, 1 starting DT, and 1 starting DE (1st half only). Ok, I'll go out on the limb. Irish in an upset.

NCAA Football Week 10 Betting Preview: Will Clemson Cover as Chalk Against Notre Dame?

#8 Florida v. #5 Georgia -- The only game where more alcohol is consumed than Texas / OU. Both teams bring in a loss. I suspect Trask and the Gators get in gear and take the often-overrated Georgia Bulldogs--despite a strong Bulldog D.
Kirby Smart identifies 3 keys to Florida game; Dan Mullen comments

OSU v. KSU -- The Mullet brings in a banged up team to Manhattan, Kansas to face his coaching equal.

KU v OU -- please

ASU v. USC -- PAC play opens up. All teams will be rusty. Even in the midst of multiple train wrecks, USC has stockpiled massive amounts of talent.

Baylor v. ISU -- Cyclones at home, but the weather is balmy. I'd take ISU.

aTm v. So. Carolina -- The Cocks will need more than home field advantage to take down the ags, even with Mond at QB.

#23 Michigan v #13 Indiana -- We'll see if the Wolverines can bounce back from a loss to in-state rival Mich St and topple undefeated Indiana. The Hoosiers have already taken down Penn St., so this is not your typical IU football team. I'd look for Harbaugh and Big Blue to take them in a close one.

Rutgers v. aOSU -- Bucks stomp a mudhole in Rutgers rear. If its close in the first half, don't worry, it won't be close in the second.

UNC v Duke -- Mack gets back on track.

Tech v. TCU -- Frogs overpower the Red Raiders in Ft. Worth

Mich St v. Iowa -- ?

UCLA v Colorado -- I suspect UCLA will be turning around from the doldrums of recent seasons. The Buffs are a good team to open up with. Weather will not be a factor in the Rockies tomorrow.

Tenn v. Arkansas -- Arkansas with the upset.

Wash St. v. Oregon St. -- Look for better fundamentals from the Cougars with their new coaching staff installed.

"C'mon Chop! Fundamentals, Schmundamentals..."

Pitt v. FSU -- beats me. They both have plenty of problems.

Stanford v Oregon -- Opening jitters and rusty offenses might spell trouble for the Ducks. Stanford is always good for a few upsets each year.

SMU v. Temple -- Shane all the way over the 'other' Owls (besides Rice that is).

Tonight's games -- Friday 11/6:

tonight -- Miami at NC State -- Manny and Miami chalk up a W on the road vs a fair (4-2) Wolfpack squad.
Miami vs. NC State: Hurricanes' Bye Week Rebound

tonight -- #9 BYU v #21 Boise State -- keep an eye on BYU as a possible dark horse for a playoff spot. Tonight they face a tough test at BSU.

NC State and Miami are tied at 24 with about 11 minutes left in the third quarter. . . . Then NC State goes on a nice 4 plus minute drive and scores to take the lead 31-24

Miami comes back from 41-31 to win 44-41. Missed tackle turned a 5 yard slant into a 50 yard TD to take the lead, then a tipped pass (poor high throw, but catchable) became a pick for the only turnover of the game by either team, then a couple of first downs ran out the clock.

BYU really blew it there. Facing third and long with no timeouts, they got a decent gain to set up 4th and 4 at the Boise 30 with 27 seconds to go. They decided to rush to the line and go for it.

Ok, so I figured they would try and get the quick sideline pass for the 1st down, then if it worked they could take one shot at the end zone before having to kick the FG. Risky, but understandable.

Instead they decide to sub several players for some reason, wasting most of the remaining clock. And to compound it, they call a medium-long downfield pass. So they make it down inside the BSU 10, but time ran out during the play.

They're still up 16-3, they are just a better team and Boise is on their 3rd string QB, but that was a really dumb way to handle that situation.

So we thought we had a bad tv draw with this 11am game. ASU takes on USC in LA at 11am OUR time. That’s a 9 am start time in LA!
:yikes:

#9 BYU ended up trouncing Nationally ranked Boise State 51-17.

I’m telling ya. Keep an eye on BYU as a dark horse for the playoffs. Higher ranked teams will start taking losses. Then there’s conference championships. The committee may be choosing from 1 loss teams and BYU for that final spot.

ASU 3 USC 0

Following a muffed punt by ASU, SC put together a short drive but the RB fumbled the ball into the EZ recovered by ASU.

USC needs a copy of that old DKR tackling video. That last TD by ASU was bad. Embarrassingly poor tackling by the Trojans.

It’s not touch football or two below, USC.

So, Michigan State beats Michigan last week, and now is losing 35-0 at the end of the first half to winless Iowa. College football--gotta love it.

IU is beating up on Harbaugh’s Wolverines. Didn’t see that coming. IU is looking very strong thus far. They’re this year’s Minnesota in the Big 10.

ASU just drove for either a TD or the ball at the one with first and goal--under review to determine which it is. . . . TD. ASU up by 10

Indiana up 31-14 on Michigan, and Michigan QB just overthrew a wide wide open receiver on third and 12, so Michigan has to punt. . . Michigan held Indiana and is driving deep in Indiana territory as the third quarter ends. TD pass by Michigan early in the fourth quarter. Michigan trails by 10.

Northwestern leads Nebraska by 8 with 2 minutes to play. Nebraska driving, but they have a long way to go. . . .1:16 to go and Nebraska still in its own territory. . . .timeout with 57 seconds left. . . .QB draw picks up first down and goes out of bounds with 50 seconds left at Northwestern 46 yard line. . . . Incomplete pass. 46 seconds left. . . . QB runs to 31 with 30 seconds left. . . Another first down at the 20 with 20 seconds left. . . . incomplete pass. Third down with 14 seconds to go.. . Tackle just inside the 15. Nebraska takes its last timeout with 7 seconds to go. Fourth and 4 to go. Incomplete pass into the end zone. Northwestern wins.

On that 55 yard TD off of a flare pass, a couple of USC players (#1 most obviously) never went after the guy at full speed. Really poor effort there.

ASU leads USC 27-14 with under five minutes to go. ASU has a third down, and USC takes a timeout. . . USC holds, but has to take its next to last timeout.
