OTHER GAMES

As you requested, . . . . Sims throws about a 35 yard TD pass to put GaTech up by 12 with 2:52 left. . .

On next possession, Louisville QB sacked and then throws incomplete pass. It's third and 19. Gotta go for it on fourth down and 15. QB sacked again. Game over essentially.

GaTech runs it in for another, unnecessary, TD. 46-27

^Will, I'd really like to see the Falcons win the CIC Trophy. Army has a pretty good team this year, and it's always tough to beat them at West Point. But USAFA appears to be very good (currently riding a nine-game winning streak), so they'll have a decent chance to win the game. I'm not so confident about the chances to win the Mountain West Conference - to do that, the Falcons will have to beat Boise State, and that's a very tall order. It is a home game for USAFA on 31 October.
Army does have a good team this year but I am really high on our chances of getting the CIC trophy. Its been a few years since we have looked this good. Its always tough to beat Boise State. Playing at home ups our chances. Winning the Mountain West this year isn't that big of deal to me. Its a weird year of course but if we can get the CIC back that is all I want to see.

10/10

Best week in college football so far. There’s some really good games on the slate, including UT v OU. Here’s some of the better other games:

VT v UNC— This will be Mack Brown’s big sort of early test. I’m hoping Mack’s Heels will win.

Bama v Ole Miss—Ole Miss our up a heck of a fight against Florida. This should not be an easy game for Bama with an outside possibility of an upset.

Tenn v Ga—I’m not yet convinced yet that Tennessee is in the same class as Georgia.

UF v aTm—Florida may be the beat team in that conference (not joking). Look for the Gators to whoop some aggie butt today. Jimbo loses to an old rival of his.

FSU v ND—In a normal year, this would be a marquee matchup. This is not a normal year. Irish stomp an Irish jig and a Riverdance on the Noles today.

Clemson v Miami—top matchup of the day. If Clemson is going down, it could happen tonight. I’m rooting for Manny __iaz’s __efense to somehow slow down Trevor Lawrence. (Could be wishful thinking, huh...?). King and Miami’s O can put some points on the board. Good looking game.

Arkansas v Auburn—the pigs revert back to wallowing in the mid of defeat.

#15 BYU v UTSA—without much fanfare, BYU has quietly climbed up to a number 15 national ranking. The Roadrunners won’t derail the Cougars today.

LSU v Missou—a battle of two tiger teams.

Tech v ISU—If Bowman is still hurt, and I think he is, look for Tech to suck.

Army v Citadel—You won’t see much undisciplined revelry in the student sections in this game.

KSU v TCU—battle of the Big 12 purple teams. Patterson wins the battle of the coaches and Duggan has enough to put the Frogs on top. Should be a hard fought game.

Navy v Temple—Finally another team this year’s Navy team can beat (about in Tulane’s level, maybe worse).

The Pirate v Kentucky—The Pirate takes his act to the hills of Kentucky—far from the sea, but around the exact sort of yokels that will adore him for his Pirate schtick. (Wait a minute, does that say something about us...?). The Pirate crew puts up a lot of points for the win.

N Car gets a first down just past midfield on its first series, then they run for another first down, and the pass for another, then run for another. First and goal. TD. That was easy

Fla third and 4 at Aggie 12. Short pass to barely get first down. . . Third and goal from 5. TD pass into tight coverage. Seven and a half minute opening drive.

N Car holds Va Tech, and runs for another first down. Then passes for another. Then runs for 8. Then throws for long TD to the back of the end zone. Va Tech needs to tighten up on defense.

A&M roughs Gator passer. Then Fla gains six on first down. Then 39 yard catch and run to A&M 15. Third and six from 11. TD pass. A&M also gets flagged for late hit out of bounds. . . . End of first quarter

NC holds Va Tech. NC driving again and VaTech gets hit with targeting foul. NC scores again. Lots of Va Tech players out with injuries/COVID. . . .Va Tech finally has a good drive going. First down deep in NC territory.

ATM driving again. They are 8 for 9 passing. Down to Fla 21. . . First down on 19. Now down to 15. Incomplete pass. Third and six. Pass to about the five. Runner down at one. Stuffed at two Third and goal. Mond flicks TD pass. Gonna be a shootout

Florida driving helped by aTm penalty. Passes to aTm 41. Fla runs for first down at 30. Fla runs for another first down to aTm 20. Passes down to 13. Run to 11. Third and long one. Very short pass right to the first down line. Run to aTm one. Run up middle for Fla TD

NC gets six yards on first down run on first play of new series. Receiver drops next pass. Howell sacked. VaTech holds

Mond throws for first down after incompletion. Five yard run on first down to aTm 40. No punts by either team yet. aTm runner goes for 17 yards. . . . Incomplete pass. Third and seven. Time out.

ATM driving. Second and 10 at Fla 30 with 58 seconds to go. First down pass to 19. . . .Second and 10 with 38 seconds left. Five yard completion. Completion to 4 with 8 seconds left. Spiked it. Then time out. Second and goal. No timeouts. Florida confused on defense and calls time out. Incomplete but defensive PI in end zone. Four seconds left. aTm kicks field goal to end first half

NC scores to make it 28-14. VaTech has it third and 10 on its next possession. Pass is short, and it is fourth and one, but it is under review. Confirmed. A hard count gets NC to jump. Free first down. . . Fourth and 3. Don’t get NC to jump this time. Time out. Going for it. Incomplete pass. NC has good field position with a minute left

Unexpected firat half. Florida is very good. Trask especially.

aTm gets ball to start second half. 18 yard completion on first play. . . Florida’s defense does not look anywhere near a top tier defense to me. . . . Florida holds, however. First punt of the day. . . .Florida QB heaves a terrible pass into triple coverage. Easy interception, but there was a defensive hands to the face penalty by aTm that saves Florida, and the Florida gains 20 on next play. Fight in pile after subsequent run. Flags fly. Refs talk. Offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Trask throws 37 yard TD pass on third and four. 28-17

That UNC endzone is tricky with the way it’s painted. It’s hard to tell where the back of the endzone is.

North Carolina looks really good. Those 5 years off did wonders for Mack. He looks more energetic than he has since like 2007 or 2008, if not the late 90s.

Trask is finally kicking into gear and pulling the Gators away from the ags.

The ags didn’t want us to one-up them today for making lots of stupid mistakes. A head butt after the end of the play...?!?! Wtf. 15 yards and the ags are backed up deep in their own territory.

VaTech throws apparent TD pass nullified by illegal shift. Then NC smothers tunnel screen. Third and 19. Bad throw misses open receiver. VaTech tries . . . and makes 55 yard FG

aTm is driving . . . inside the Florida 15 . . . third and one at about the three. aTm scores on rushing TD. Back to a four point game.

aTm is working a power running game with good blocking and hard running. If the ags has a good QB, they’d be a good team. But that’s a very big ‘if.’

Good use of the TE by our inbred neighbors. Trask is going to have to just light them up and beat them in a shootout.
