Hebron HS in Carrollton Tx is always referred to as being in Lewisville Tx.

Hebron is in the Lewisville school district but the school is certainly not in Lewisville.
LOL, that's like Canyon Randall HS being in the Canyon ISD but is actually located in Amarillo, not Canyon. And now Canyon ISD has a 3rd high school, West Plains HS, which is also within Amarillo city limits (just barely).

It’s more common than you think especially in the Greater Houston area. School District boundaries and City boundaries often overlap. There are Pasadena ISD schools in the city of Houston, Fort Bend ISD schools in the city of Houston. I remember working on a project that was for Alvin ISD but the school was in the city of Pearland which is a bit crazy because Alvin and Pearland are huge rivals. And I think every school in Manvel is part of Alvin ISD. Alvin ISD is huge. I’m sure there are many other examples all over the state.

Meep Meep!!! We prefer the original name….just Westlake. WHS is not in Austin and I have no idea how “ Austin Westlake “ got started.

It’s like calling Lake Travis, “Austin Lake Travis” or Katy High, “Houston Katy.”
It’s how AP reported HS games: city and name of school. I see your point, but is it Austin McNeil or Round Rock McNeil HS? I don’t recall. I think it is Austin though McNeil is in RRSD.

I always liked Tyler John Tyler HS.

Newspapers reporting HS football scores. It’s the same in every state. City and then school name. See Tyler John Tyler HS.

There are two other powerhouse Westlake Highs. One in Louisiana and another in Southern California.

Perhaps that’s the reason in recruiting and with the national media that the Austin Westlake thing cropped up in the 80’s. That and the fact that Westlake hadn’t gained statewide prominence until then.

But in the 70’s it was never called Austin Westlake

How about changing Westlake to the Dodge Family School. Between his father-in-law and Todd, Westlake earned the right to be called whatever they want to be called.

Emmett Shelton Sr High..more appropriately. He was my friend and employer…clever lawyer who amassed most of Westlake Hills proper by adverse possession.and representing land owning cedar choppers in their constant shootings and various other serious legal scrapes from the 30’s to the 50’s.

Westlake High was his vision and he had the land to do it. He and other founders hated the prospect of busing students at least 15 miles every day inside Austin to achieve ineffective social ideals. So they created an independent school district.

If you have the chance Google Emmett. He was an early Austin storyteller and historian as well.

You'll never hear us singing the blues
We're loyal whether we win or lose
We're the Wildcats A! H! S!
We're out on the prowl again

(or something like that)

AHS beat the ……..
AHS beat the ……..
AHS beat the ……
Purple White Fight Fight Fight!

Sounds like you’ve heard that sung many a time.

This is kind of off topic, but I actually live in Lewisville. When I travel and say where I am from, people often try to correct the pronuciation to Louie Vill. I say no, it's the English spelling LEWIS.

It’s insulting and incorrect. Of course Craig Way makes mistakes and Google is wrong. The incorporated city of Westlake Hills is full of citizens who despise the City of Austin.
Eanes ISD takes in some of “Austin,” and unincorporated Travis County, and Rollingwood. But when we lived in Lost Creek, we felt we lived in “Westlake,” because Eanes was the foundation of the culture in that part of the county.

Texans got off to a very slow start, but turned it around and are leading 10-6 in the third. . . 13-6 now. Texans' defense has completely dominated the Chargers since the first couple of possessions. . . Texans get 38 yard pick six. 20-6. Chargers have 148 yards of total offense through the end of the third quarter. . . . Herbert completes a couple of nice passes, then throws a very good pass that goes right through his receiver's hands and is intercepted and returned to about the Chargers' 13. Nightmare game for Coach Harbaugh. 30 yard FG. 23-6. . . Unbelievable series. Herbert is sacked on first down and again on second down. Third and 26. Pass up the middle caught by McConkey about 25 yards up the field, and then he runs it the rest of the way (60 yards) for a TD. However, Texans' take Chargers' blocked extra point try back all the way for two points. 25-12.
