Dadgum...excepting Texas Fight no song stirs my blood like the Notre Dame fight song. I have no love for the Fighting Irish. The song was borrowed by New Mexico Highlands University where as a 1st-3rd grader I watched future NFL rookie of the year Carl Garrett (he beat out OJ for the honor) score touchdown after touchdown. It was also the fight song for East Las Vegas NM and Gainesville TX where I held passionate rooting interest.

Did anyone else notice that possible touch of "Notre Dame magic" on that winning field goal? It came off the kick slicing right and heading right of the uprights, yet it seemed to get "corrected" about a second or two into the flight of the kick and veered left inside the uprights for the victory.

wherer I held passionate rooting interest.
Also borrowed by Angleton HS (my daughter’s Alma Mater). Now when I hear that song I tend to think of AHS rather than ND.

btw, back in the 1960s MAD magazine offered these wicked lyrics to be sung to the tune of the ND fight song:

Cheer, cheer the black and the blue!
You guys will win 'cause we are for you!
Push their faces in the mud!
Knock out their teeth and draw their blood!
Stomp on their stomachs, break all their bones!
We wanna hear their screams and their moans!
If you follow our advice then you'll win a CLEAN victory!

Chop, touchdown Jesus was even more evident when he tripped the Penn State DB so what's his name could be wide open on that 54 yard TD pass to tie the game. Luck of the Irish, indeed!

Naw....it was the little hip shake by Austin Westlake's Jaden Greathouse that broke the db's ankles.

Meep Meep!!! We prefer the original name….just Westlake. WHS is not in Austin and I have no idea how “ Austin Westlake “ got started.

It’s like calling Lake Travis, “Austin Lake Travis” or Katy High, “Houston Katy.”

Weird things happen when you play against Notre Dame.

Only (loosely) comparable situation I know is Jones Field in Lubbock. Maybe some Comanche wind blowing out there...?

It's usually referred to as Austin Westlake in recruiting. Google has it located in Austin. Craig Way has called it Austin Westlake for more than a decade.
So dont know how it got started.

It’s insulting and incorrect. Of course Craig Way makes mistakes and Google is wrong. The incorporated city of Westlake Hills is full of citizens who despise the City of Austin.

Not going to bog this thread down over the location.
The point of the post was Greathouse's play.
I see..I meant it as a by the way comment. It’s not significant and the misnaming has been going on since the 80’s….we citizens and graduates of Westlake don’t like it however.

And just a reminder, the Original Authentic Canyon High School is located in Canyon, TX (not to be confused with the "Canyon High School" in New Braunfels).

Just wanted to make that clear.

Hebron HS in Carrollton Tx is always referred to as being in Lewisville Tx.

Hebron is in the Lewisville school district but the school is certainly not in Lewisville.

Do they now call it Lewisville Hebron? :)
