OTHER GAMES

Sorry to learn about your friend. I know you will struggle with it for a while.

In 2020 I had 3 long time good friends die suddenly for different reasons. I struggled with emotions from each death. One of them, I have thought of every day since their death.

I got some professional counseling through my medical coverage and I read a book about dealing with death. Both helped. You might want to consider one or both of those my friend.

While I fully appreciate the sincerity of your post, I am doing quite okay. My point wasn't about my own mental health, but rather that we don't know how long we are going to live so we should enjoy our lives within reason because getting old isn't guaranteed.

Montana State trailed New Mexico by 10 with 5 minutes to play. Montana State has the ball on their own 7 yard line. Running back gets the ball up the middle, cuts to the outside, and runs 93 yards down the sideline to pull with three after the extra point.
. . .
Then, Montana State holds New Mexico and gets the ball back deep in its own end with two minutes to go. Montana State drives down the field and scores the go ahead TD (a short run up the middle) with 10 seconds to go in the game.

Bronco Mendenhall chokes another one with 10 seconds left to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory 35-31.

FWIW, the AD that hired him just moved to Third Ward, where Tillman told the media, "we need to quit building stuff and use that money to pay players".

Good back and forth game at the end between Mack and Minnesota tonight. . . . Minnesota has a chance to make 47 yard FG as time expires to win by one. . . . No good. Mack survives by 2.

Total stupidity. I'd fire the Minnesota HC before he got to the locker room.

You have 10-12 seconds left and one timeout. You spike the damn football rather than center it. Kid had already missed one wide. Snap the ball, center it, call timeout. Instead left it on that hashmark; kid had plenty of leg nut missed wide right. I'm not sure John Blake is that damn dumb.

Week 1 - Saturday 8/31

Some good looking games, mixed in with plenty of chicken crap scheduling of weak-sister teams by the big boys for easy non-conference wins.

No. 14 Clemson vs. No. 1 Georgia (in Atlanta, Georgia) | 12 p.m. | ABC
The headliner game. No easy task for Georgia. Big rival game going a long ways back.

Virginia Tech vs. Vanderbilt (in Nashville, Tennessee) | 12 p.m. | ESPN
The Hokies aren't what they used to be, but they're still good enough to waltz by the Commodores

Illinois State at No. 25 Iowa | 12 p.m. | Big Ten Network
Iowa shuts them out. An easy, but low scoring victory for the Hawks.

Bucknell at Navy | 12 p.m. | CBSSN
Just the sort of game the Middies need to kick off the year.

UConn at Maryland | 12 p.m. | FS1
???

No. 8 Penn State at West Virginia | 12 p.m. | FOX
A lot tougher than Penn St bargained for.

Chattanooga at No. 15 Tennessee | 12:45 p.m. | SEC Network
BS scheduling by little UT.

Upper Iowa at Butler | 1 p.m. | FloSports
Who TF is "Upper Iowa"?

South Dakota State at No. 17 Oklahoma State | 2 p.m. | ESPN+
More BS scheduling. Still, the Pokes have a bad habit of dropping easy games early in the year.

Portland State at Washington State | 3 p.m. | CW Network
Easy victory on the Palouse.

No. 19 Miami (Fla.) at Florida | 3:30 p.m. | ABC
The other semi-headliner. Florida hasn't been themselves recently, and Miami is ranked. Watch for a Gator upset in the Swamp.

North Dakota at Iowa State | 3:30 p.m. | FS1
More early season chicken poop scheduling.

Merrimack at Air Force | 3:30 p.m. | CBSSN
"Merrimack". Maybe if they played Navy--that was a ship in a famous naval battle in the Civil War.

UTEP at Nebraska | 3:30 p.m. | FOX
It would be funny if the Miners upset the Huskers. But don't count on it.

Akron at No. 2 Ohio State | 3:30 p.m. | CBS
:rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1:

Miami (Ohio) at Northwestern | 3:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network
Little Miami could get the upset here.

Old Dominion at South Carolina | 4:15 p.m. | SEC Network
The visiting crowd will be very well dressed.

UC Davis at Cal | 5 p.m. | ESPN+/ACCNX
Cal

Ave Maria University at Stetson | 6 p.m. | ESPN+
The Catholics vs. the Cowboy Hats.

Idaho State at Oregon State | 6:30 p.m. | CW Network
Beavs munch

Western Kentucky at No. 5 Alabama | 7 p.m. | ESPN
W. Ky is actually not a bad team. Bama will still spank them.

Furman at No. 6 Ole Miss | 7 p.m. | ESPN+/SECN+
Ole Miss is good this year, really good. Crank up the generator for that scoreboard.

Tarleton State at Baylor | 7 p.m. | ESPN+
Cow milkers vs. people who drink milk at a sports bar.

UNLV at Houston | 7 p.m. | FS1
Coogs

UT Martin at No. 18 Kansas State | 7 p.m. | ESPN+
KSU - Kleiman's stock will keep steadily trending up until KSU is a perennial ranked team. Maybe a usual Top 15 team. They've got the coaching down up there.

Sam Houston at Rice | 7 p.m. | ESPN+
Surely the MOB would never stoop so low as to mock the police...

Texas Southern at Prairie View A&M | 7 p.m. | ESPN+
Good bands.

Alabama A&M at Auburn | 7:30 p.m. | ESPN+/SECN+
What kind of chicken crap scheduling is this!

No. 7 Notre Dame at No. 20 Texas A&M | 7:30 p.m. | ABC
Irish. A&M finds a way to self-destruct.

Fresno State at No. 9 Michigan | 7:30 p.m. | NBC
Wolves could start slow, but they'll get on a roll and overwhelm the Bulldogs.

Idaho at No. 3 Oregon | 7:30 p.m. | Big Ten Network
High scoring a$$ whipping here.

UCLA at Hawai'i | 7:30 p.m. | CBS
Bruins have too many horses for Da' Bows. Bows should be better than last year, but that ain't saying much. Long term, not only do they have to recruit against what used to be the PAC, now they have to recruit against UT.

Abilene Christian at Texas Tech | 7:30 p.m. | ESPN+
An interesting cultural battle of West Texas here. Tech will obviously whip their tight hineys. The non-drinking West Texans vs. the heavy drinking West Texans. Turn the other cheek vs. fight at the drop of a hat.

Southern Miss at Kentucky | 7:45 p.m. | SEC Network
Interesting matchup. KY wears them down for the W.

Houston Christian at SMU | 8 p.m. | ESPN+/ACCNX
A religious battle (well, not really...)

Grambling at Louisiana | 8 p.m. | ESPN+
2 interesting subsets of the residents of The Boot meet. Cajuns prevail in this one.

New Mexico at No. 21 Arizona | 10:30 p.m. | ESPN
Zona. Even without the guys that transferred to UT.

Wyoming at Arizona State | 10:30 p.m. | FS1
WYO in the upset.

Weber State at Washington | 11 p.m. | Big Ten Network
Please. :rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1:

Sunday, Sept. 1

No. 23 USC vs. No. 13 LSU (in Las Vegas, Nevada) | 7:30 p.m. | ABC
This is a VERY interesting one, as either of these 2 teams this year could break out and restore their great winning traditions, or break down into oblivion. USC has a history of travelling to big games in the Deep South, against higher ranked Southern teams, and kicking the absolute sh!t out of the host Southern team. There is also much more high school football top-end talent in California than in Louisiana. Then there's the coaching... Look for the Trojans to upset the Bayou Bengals.

Monday, Sept. 2

Boston College at No. 10 Florida State | 7:30 p.m. | ESPN

FSU is still mad from the playoff selection last year. They have a statement to make.

And, yeah, GT beat them by 3 last week...

Hmmmm, IIRC, FSU stumbled out of the gate and was upset in their opener.....

TCU 10
Stanford 17

Halftime.

I figure Sonny will bounce back this year. Not 11-1 or 10-2, but maybe 9-3 or so.

Sonny ain't going anywhere with those excuses for QBs. From what I saw in the first half, there may be five better QBs on the Texas intramural fields.

I wouldn't recommend the Hoover kid to Tarleton State or Sul Ross. Kendall's play calling wouldn't work in the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association.

Sonny needs to go out tomorrow morning and invest in 3-5 tennis ball gun machines and set it on 95-100 mph.

FWIW, the JP Richardson kid for TCU is the son of Bucky Richardson

What is Todd Graham's role at TCU except to screw things up?

Kendall knows football, just like Les, Jr did, but neither can translate into being a quality OC. Sonny is going to have to go shopping in December.

I don't know. I haven't talked to Bucky in a while. Even though he is an Aggie legend, Bucky never acted like an Aggie. Great family
Unexpectedly had coffee with him in Hobby several years ago. Great conversation and was very humble about everything we discussed especially football. Good dude.
