OTHER GAMES

In Colorado Springs - USAFA up 29-0 over Utah State early in second quarter. AFA has 225 yards total offense, Utah State 52. Looks like USAFA can name their score tonight.

Virginia had a nice 15 play 74 yard drive, but its Freshman QB telegraphed a pass to the right side. and it was intercepted in the end zone.

Another fairly weak week. Soon conference play will be in swing across the nation, and each Saturday will be full of good games. For 9/16 -- the pickins are pretty slim on the table.

There's plenty of room for upsets though, and we could see several.

#18 Colorado vs. Colorado State - the evening game will draw a lot of viewers due to Deon and the rise of CU. CU has the horses this year, but this is one of those grudge matches.

#11 Tennessee at Florida - Florida is weaker than normal, Tenn is quite good. But it is at the Swamp...

#15 Kansas State at Missouri - KSU looks solid, but certainly not spectacular. This is no cake walk.

#7 Penn St at Illinois - one can hope that Bielema can take down the evil empire at Urbana Champaign.

#14 LSU at Miss St -- one of those games the up-and-down Tigers could drop

#19 OU at Tulsa - about like UT vs Rice

Northwestern at #21 Duke - 2 good academic schools, 1 of whom has a good football team

#8 Washington at Michigan State - trap game

WKU at #6 Ohio State - please

NC Central at #24 UCLA -- good grief!

South Carolina at #1 Georgia - big grudge match. UGA has much more talent though.

Northern Colorado at #23 Wash St - Wash. St took out Wisconsin last week. Watch them inch up the rankings some more.

Hawaii at #13 Oregon - we can dream

Ga Tech at #18 Mississippi - don't pencil in the W just yet Rebels

Bowling Green at #2 Michigan - this is ridiculous

#10 Alabama at South Florida

Minnesota at #20 UNC - go Mack

Lone Guyland at Baylor - heads explode in this culture shocker

Iowa State at Ohio

Wake Forest at Old Dominion - battle of Southern preppies

Central Michigan at #9 Notre Dame - rolls eyes

UL Monroe at Texas a&m

TSU at Rice - so close geographically, but I couldn't match 2 more different schools

BYU at Arkansas - the visiting co-eds teach the pig boys how to soak. :tap:

Pitt at WV - Backyard Brawl

TCU at Houston - both are off to lousy starts; Frogs get it together

UIW at Abilene Christian - this was almost cancelled when some ACU Elders couldn't find a scriptural precedent for inviting a Catholic school team into your home. :rolleyes1:

Kansas at Nevada - the Abolitionists keep building up their resume

Prairie View A&M at SMU - Triple DDD finds a team they can easily beat.

Tarleton State at Texas Tech - The visitors show up in more Western Wear than Tech for a change.

So. Alabama at Okla State

Idaho at Cal - The headline: "Vandals Invade the Bay Area" has a different meaning than it normally does. :lmao:

USAFA hangs on to beat Utah State 39-21. Usual plan for Falcons - run the ball and monopolize Time of Possession - 344 yards rushing, 38:40 ToP, no turnovers. Don't know if Falcons can dominate Mountain West, but they're off to a nice start. Big thing for USAFA is to beat both Army and Navy - that defines a successful season.

Navy is still pretty lousy on the gridiron, although the Middies hung in there with Memphis. For Navy to be itself on the football field, Navy must have a very good option QB behind center. A very good multi-threat QB would also suffice.

This year, it will likely be another battle between AF and Army for the CIC Trophy.

Waiting to see at what point, pre or postgame, will Colorado players put on sunglasses? Putting my money on postgame. Their fans will be sporting them in the stands.

ESPN on full Deon hype mode overdrive since Neon appeared on Pat MacAfee’s show yesterday passing out free shades (as if they already weren’t in full hype mode). It’s getting ridiculous. What will be the grand motivation for the Buffalos next week?

I have that BYU Arkansas game circled. Sneaky good game potential BIG 12 SEC Matchup. Crazy that not one ranked matchup this week. Good game at Missouri. Also keep that OU Tulane game circled. Could be interesting. Probably Georgia’s first “test” today but SC not that impressive

#3 Seminoles locked up 10-10 with unranked Boston College. We will learn something today about this highly-ranked Florida State team.
