OTHER GAMES

Trust me. Any game with Troy Aikman as the color commentator is on mute. The dude never shuts up. Must get paid by the word.
My problem with his commentary is that too often he merely repeats what Joe Buck has just said--only Troy takes twice as many words to do it.

Glad to be wrong about last night in terms of predictions. Football is better when the Cowboys are still in it, especially for the haters.

I've seen the yips in person. I can't remember who the Rangers were playing, but the opposing team's catcher couldn't reliably get the ball back to the mound without stopping the game down and slowly making a progression. That's how I felt about Maher last night. Kickers are such creatures of habit, and I think the playing surface had a little to do with it.

Side note: Cowboys have 5 losses this year. Only 1 of the losses (opening night) was on FieldTurf.

Remember when we missed 3 of our first 4 PATs in our season opener some time back in the 00s (though I think 2 of the missed ones were tipped by the defense)?

Bengals get a 98-yard fumble return for a TD. 24-17 Cincy

Anybody notice the utter lack of care by Gus Edwards on that one? He immediately gave up on chasing down the defenders, meanwhile Mark Andrews (who as a TE should be slower than the RB) despite being 5 yards further back, hustles his *** off and nearly trips the guy up short of the goal line.

people generally hate to see success in others. however, I think it's douche of him to give up his family for football. 20 years was not enough?

She gave up on him, not vise versa.

Yep. Gus is looking kinda fat. He was very close to catching the fumble in the air. I’d go with JK on the goal line.

To each his own. I personally think Troy is great.
Though I admittedly would rather have almost no commentary by any sports media dudes, so...

Now if only Bill Walton also was also a commentator for football games! That would be 3 hours of insightful comments and auditory bliss!

. . .

Mahomes out, at least for this series, with twisted ankle. . . . and 37 year old Chad Henne promptly leads KC on 98 yard TD drive.

My JayHawker relatives are also Chief ticket holders. They of course are tense. Tell me the KC defense is young and sketchy.
I want KC to win but lots of game left

Not to be petty*, but aren’t the Chiefs actually located in Missouri? But that’s OK, it’s like my Iowa cousins rooting for the Vikings or the Bears (the closest available teams if you live in Iowa).

*Fair warning, I’m going to be petty.

From Nfl.com--

"[Andy] Reid became the third coach in NFL history to win 20 playoff games with the Chiefs' Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 64-year-old Reid joined Dallas Cowboys legend Tom Landry with 20 playoff wins, tied at second all-time behind the New England Patriots' Bill Belichick, who has 31 postseason victories. Reid also became the first coach in NFL [history] to win 10 postseason games with two franchises, having collected his 10th win with the Chiefs after achieving the same number with the Philadelphia Eagles."

Not petty at all. There is a Kansas City Mo and a Kansas City Ks separated by the Missouri river. In many places one side of a street is Mo, the other side is Ks. The Kansas side offers better living conditions.
Most of the players coaches etc live in Ks.
KU is 30 miles from KC. So it is a tad more reasonable for people to be both Jayhawkers And Chief fans than people in Iowa being Vikings or Bears fans.
