That’s a gut punch, huh?

Worse than a gut punch. It’s pretty much indicative of a once-great program with great tradition and following that’s gone totally off the rails.

We are sandwiched b/w SJSU and USC
That would put us around Paso Robles or maybe the Cuyama Valley.

Lots of cows and oil around those parts. I guess it makes sense for Texas (if we have to be sandwiched between Californians that is...).

The College Football Playoff is set:
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame

Your New Year's Day --
Alabama vs. Notre Dame
Clemson vs. Ohio State

I admit I was pulling for ISU to trounce the dirt burglars but if they had snuck in, Alabama might have hung 100 on them

ps -- obligatory: poor aggy

I think aTm is actually better than ND this year, despite weak QB play. Still, when it's close, the media and decision makers will go with Notre Dame. Been that way since WWII or before.

"What's that aggies? Who's going to the playoffs?"

The playoff committee took a look at the aggies' cheerleaders ("yell leaders") and Notre Dame's cheerleaders for the tie-breaker.

But they don’t want a Group of 5 in. Cincy struggled to beat Tulsa, they shouldn’t be in CFP.
They struggled in a torrential downpour.

If one just looks at scoreboards, OSU struggled with Northwestern.

And for that matter, Alabama struggled with a Florida team that lost to LSShoe...

Alabama defense maybe not quite the dominant force of years past.
And...as Saban himself has acknowledged...the SEC is changing...and offenses are more prolific and potent.
Funny, how you won't hear the media taking back what they said about the Big12 and now saying they dont play defense in the SEC

...

Ironically enough, at the same time Saban was coming to that realization, Mack Brown made up his mind to take us in the complete opposite direction. He commanded that our offense be more like Bama's used to be. I believe the exact quote was, "run the dang ball and play D!”

Winning what, 7 of the last 10 National Championships will give a league credibility, while the B12 under OU's dominance is the usual 4th seed / bye week for the top seed.

I dont agree that ISU would have gotten run over. Beat . Yes...but they look like a team who knows how to compete in a football game...regardless of opponent. Look what Florida did. You think Florida is that much better than ISU?

You are correct. I have talked about this before. Saban began to realize this after the 2009 game against us. He even made comments that were publicized. He saw the writing on the wall. He was concerned about our offensive firepower and tempo matched up against defenders who were use to a more "pro style" offense....power game at the time. SEC defenders at that time just weren't seeing the types of prolific passing games they now see. Well, college football soon took on more of a Big12 look...and the pros followed. If you say pro style now you are talking a completely different thing than in 2010. Mack sold stock right when buyers were about to jump in, and Saban, ahead of his time as usual....was buying at just the right time.
Funny those two men participated in the same game and came away with opposing conclusions.

I think most UT fans have forgotten this. Or maybe they never knew

Which was odd, because Bama's offense sucked most of that game. 263 yards on 14 possessions. Almost all their points came from the defense either scoring or giving them the ball already in FG range. On their 11 possessions that started outside the Texas 30, they scored 14 points.

Before the CCG, there were ties based on regular season.

Granted until it became a convenient excuse in 2014 to leave no-name schools out of the playoffs in favor of a traditional powerhouse, nobody ever gave a rat's arse about the co-champs label for the team that lost the head to head. OU fans didn't consider themselves conference champions in 2012. The UT fanbase pretty much unanimously got annoyed when our media guide listed us as 2001 South division co-champions.

BYU is about to give up a field goal.

And to show how prophetic I am...this game is going to end 49-23. BYU wins.

I heard that both of North Carolina's top RBs, both 1000 yd guys this season, have opted out of the Orange Bowl! Three days before the game! What A-holes! Good news for aggy though.
