OTHER GAMES

Tenn has the ball and is only trailing Florida 3-0 early in the second quarter. . . .Tennessee scores and leads 7-3 but Florida is driving in Tenn territory now. . . . and scores to take back the lead 10-7 . . .Tenn fake punt does not work and Florida gets the ball at the Tenn 30, but loses five yards on three plays and then misses 53 yard FG attempt

Wisconsin and Indiana are in a defensive tie (0-0) early in the second quarter. . . .Indiana driving. Down to Wisconsin's one yard line. Short TD pass over the defenders to the back corner of the end zone.

After an interception, Indiana was driving again (already leading 14-3), but the Indiana QB fumbled the ball on a third and one QB sneak. Wisconsin has life.. . .but after a good drive has to settle for a FG

Navy and Tulsa:

Both sides’ D fronts are dominating the line of scrimmage. Tulsa’s NT is a beast. 6-6 late in the third Q.

Ha! The play after I typed that, Tulsa hits a long pass for a TD and the lead. 13-6.

You guys and gals gotta watch this on a replay. Indiana receiver drops easy pass right in his hands when he was wide, wide open on a deep pass, way behind every defender, with a sure walk-in TD if he had caught it.

BYU and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

So get this. These teams were not scheduled to play. Their ADs talked on the phone early this week and set up the game between these two undefeated teams. Kudos to these two ADs for having the foresight and the balls to do this.

I’d like to see the winner do the same thing with Cincy. The undefeated winner of that game would then make a strong case for the playoff this year. (having defeated several top 25 teams). Cincy may or may not have enough to make the playoffs without it. BYU and the Chanticleers probably do not. There you have it folks, a Longhorn conspiracy to keep the deserving aggies out of the playoff.

Chickens are up 6-0. They have good team speed and really swarm to the ball.

Fumble by QB McCall. BYU ball.

Coastal is running some interesting formations and are using creative play calling, and misdirection to exploit their significant speed. Their O coaching is clearly pretty good. They also apparently emphasize speed in their recruiting.

4th down midfield. BYU runs a trick play—pitch pass. Romney drops the ball and the Chanticleers take over on downs. It was right in Romney’a gut. Romney just dropped it.

Headline: Romney Drops the Ball in Carolina. That’s on the sports page not in national politics.

Wisconsin on last gasp drive trailing by 8 with 2:55 to go . . . QB scramble for 19 yards to the Indiana 33

That’s great. Indiana will likely continue to challenge aOSU and the other big guys up there as long as they keep their coach.

After trailing 24-3 earlier, Washington has come back to trail Stanford by 8 in the fourth (31-23), and now strips the Stanford ball carrier and runs it back inside the Stanford 10 yard line. Holding penalty puts them back and then a second holding penalty on the next play puts them back further to second and goal from the 29! . . .Will have to settle for a FG try from about the 25. It's good--5 point game with 7:54 to go

Stanford eats clock by converting three third and longs in a row, the last of which was a great catch despite pass interference. They deserve this win if they hold on, which they probably will . . . and they did.

VTech holds Clemson to a FG on Clemson's first drive. 3-0. VTech throws a bomb over a busted coverage down to the Clemson 4. Runner scores standing up on next play. 7-3 VTech. . . .Lawrence leads Clemson back (thanks, in part, to the ref's failure to call a clear offensive holding penalty), and, finally, runs it in himself.

VTech is hanging tough with Clemson, which only leads by seven in the third, and VTech has the ball.

VTech intercepts Clemson in the end zone, but then a couple of plays later, fumbles the ball back to Clemson deep in VTech territory. Lawrence scores his second running TD of the night. Oh well, time to change channel.

VT turned the ball over in their own red zone. Clemson scores Lawrence 8 yard run

24-10 Clemson late 3rd Q

Bye bye upset...
