Official Spurs 2007-08 Season Thread

I love terry's quote when he says "This game doesn't mean much" ... that's an outright lie and he knows it deep inside. They wanted to beat the Spurs badly and failed.

GO SPURS GO!

Looking at the Spurs bench (thru Mavs blue and green eyes) it's hard to imagine that Stoudamire and Thomas will be big contributors. Finley and Big Shot Bob, yes. Vaughn? maybe.

Just seems like the Spurs starters are going to have to be the heavy lifters.

It was one game in 82. Obviously each team wanted to win...but not as important as a playoff game.

The Spurs win a hard-fought game against the Nuggets. Denver has a good team and they always play us well. I hope we don't get them in the first round. I would rather play the Warriors.

Four losses in a row, including blowing a 20 point lead last night to the C's. The longest losing streak in over 7 years. This team looks really, really old.

They better get their **** together or there won't be any playoffs. It pains me to say it, but the Spurs are playing like the old team that they are.

I'm definitely more concerned that I've been at any time during the past 3-4 seasons, but the Spurs have been losing close games to good teams, mostly on the road. It's bad, but it's not as bad as it seems.

One note: they still aren't playing their stars heavy minutes, even in what appeared to be a big game. Last night, Duncan played 34, Parker 37, and Ginobili 32. KG played 39 and Pierce played 44.

While the fans seem to be freaking out, I don't think Popovich is. As long as they make the playoffs, which amazingly isn't a given in this insane conference, I don't think anybody would want to play them. You've got to respect Pop for sticking to his guns. He's not going to burn his players out especially when seeding is so insignificant this year -- it doesn't matter where you end up, you are going to have to play somebody really, really good in the first round.

6 in a row. Even with New Orleans for top seed. First to 50 wins in the West...

Tough stretch of games coming up. Next 5 games:

Houston (Sunday)
Golden St
@Utah
@Portland
Phoenix

Interesting stat of the day:

The Spurs have spent the most days this season in the number 1 seed of the Western Conf (from Mark Stein espn.com):

Spurs...............50 days
New Orleans...25
Phoenix............25
Lakers.............16
Houston............2
Clippers?..........2

And just like that, the Spurs are movin' on up.

The Houston game will tell a lot, I believe.

Just finish up the season on a run with everyone healthy.

Go Spurs Go
