You do realize that the voters decided this--not politicians. They decided 61% to 39%. Seems democratic enough to me and it isn't my state for me to worry about. Just because a few disagree with the policy, doesn't mean that the majority has to deal with it. I am sure there were plenty of Dems who voted for the ban too.

North Carolina, a religious but also relatively moderate state on social issues, already has a law banning same-sex marriage. But Republican lawmakers pushed an amendment out of concern that the law was in danger of being struck down by judges.
 
I am sure the percentage of approval of the amendment would have been higher if the amendment didn't include banning hetro "shack jobs" as marraige. Probably lost some votes because of that.
Other than that, probably a good indication of what the people of this country think about giving marraige rights to sexual deviants.
 
Yes, the NC GOP had mind powers over the state's electorate. How clever. Did they use a Dr. Evil laser mind ray? Imagine that, they got votes based on principle and not pandering or a hand-out. Maybe the dems could take a few lessons.

69% of any group will/did determine the norms of behavior.
Sounds like the bigots( I am assuming bigotry against religious people from the prior post) that are upset about the NC election results are going to have to go to a nice dark room and have a nice little cry.

You also fail to distinguish between the person (the gay) and the behavior of the person (the gay sex act). You called the gay a deviant rather than saying his/her actions/behaviors are deviant. But then, as mentioned, how deviant is it? Straights engage in oral/anal sex as well.
 
I don't understand this at all.

OK ban same sex ' marriage" fine but to ban civil unions and therefore banning allowing a partner to be on your insurance policy or banning allowing your partner 'family" access to you if you are in a hospital?
I understand and pretty much agree with keeping " marriage" between a man and woman
but this?
I don't get it.
 
The amendment also pertains to hetro "shackers" .
Basically telling them to get legally married or lose benefits.
Probably why the winning margin was not greater.
 
Here is where Liberals don't get it, not all Democrats think Gay Marriage should be legalized.

In 2008 when Obama won California by what 2 million votes the Gay Marriage thing voted on by the people lost by a few thousand votes.

The African American Community and the Mexican American Community are not big proponents of Gay Marriage, it is mostly as it is with most people, a non issue, but if given the chance to vote for or against it, they vote against it.

Personally, I don't care who or what you marry, but if you are going to force the issue and make me make a decision.......

Newdoc is certainly entitled to express an opinion. Address the opinion and embrace or refute it. but to call someone or their opinion "incompentant" screams of narcissism and brings you down to a level of name-calling, rather than constructive argument. all too familiar to those who scream "racism" rather than have a conversation.
 
Perham, NEWDOC made no grammatical error. You said you don't agree with his position; are you saying that people with whom you disagree are ignorant?
