NCAA Tournament

Pokes are taking control. Stifling D and smart shot selection. Lively is still on. Moncrief made a highlight worthy drive to the bucket and finished off the three point play with a free throw. OSU can keep the pressure up. Maybe wear them down, esp Preston the Giant.

Surprised to see 15 Oral Roberts took down 2 tOSU 75-72
OSU was really sloppy and as the refs let the kids play more in the tournament, it really is a bad strategy to rely to heavily on the inside game; although, I realize many posters here pine for the gold ole days of pounding the ball into the big guys. I will actually go so far to say that OSU gave away the game with really poor ball security in the last couple of minutes of regulation when they were up by 4.

I like nailing three after three. But when you’re cold, you need at least a decent inside game or you lose. Also you establish the inside game so they can’t just hug our guys tightly on the three point line. It opens up the go inside and kick it back out to the open man outside game too.

It’s like in football—run to open up the pass, and pass to open up the run. Don’t be one dimensional.

Wisconson is looking like a favorite to win the tournament at the moment. They are on fire, I think they would have beaten anybody today. Destroying North Carolina.

Gut feeling call for the tourney. Bailor loses to Wisconsin on Sunday.
I wont go that far, but it is a nightmare matchup for a number 1 seed in round 2. All starters are seniors, good height, smart team, do not turn the ball over.... but there has to be a reason that they are a 8 seed and I think it is because they usually do not shoot this well. Plus like North Carolina, nobody on the floor scares you with their athletic ability.

I think it is time for Williams, Krzyzewski, Boeheim, and Pitino to call it quits. I understand Pitino probably still has to pay for hookers, bookies, and players or cousin Vinny will break his legs, but it is hard to see why those other three are still coaching except an addiction to fame.

So far every university from Texas has won including TSU and North Texas. Shame UT v ACU game will have to break the trend. I also think all big 12 teams have won. Only conferences looking bad so far are ACC (no wins I think) and Big 10, but Wisconsin did get a big win.

WV is up by 7 at half vs Morehead State. WV has 5 three pointers, but Culver hasn’t made a bucket yet. If either McBride’s or Sherman’s shooting is on during the second half, they’ll win handily.

Woah!

McBride got closelined by a Morehead State player. Jack Tatum stuff. They just called it a flagrant foul. McBride to the foul line.

WV 55
Morehead State 45

McBride with 22 points.

Around 12 minutes left.

Now Culver hits a few. WV working the inside game now. Morehead State looks like they're worn down. I'd keep pounding Culver inside. Kick it out to McBride & Sherman when they're open. And they do that. Now McBride with another 3.

WV up 65-53. Around 7 minutes left. About time to sharpen the pencil to pencil in the W for WV.

Update - Culver now with 12 points and 7 rebounds. He's taken control in the 2nd half. Morehead has no answer.

THIS IS WHY JERICHO SIMS IS SO IMPORTANT TO OUR GAME. OUR SECOND GAME VS WV, HE SHUT DOWN CULVER DEFENSIVELY AND DOMINATED HIM. NO TEAM CAN TROT OUT SOME BIG CENTER OR POWER FORWARD AND BEAT US OFFENSIVELY DOWN LOW. SIMS, UNDER THE DUTIFUL TUTELAGE OF SHAKA, HAS BECOME THE BEST BIG MAN DEFENDER IN THE COLLEGE GAME.

Abilene Christian's Kohl is a solid big man, but I expect Sims to shut him down. He hasn't gone against anyone like Jericho Sims.

Anderson is the team MVP. He's the steadying hand when Cade is in a funk and Likekele is on the bench with foul trouble.

The knock on the 2007 team was that we "didn't get it to Durant enough" but he was 2-13 on three-point shooting in the NCAA tournament. Augustin and Abrams tried to bail him out more than a couple times, but when our best rebounder was that far away from the basket on every possession, it's no wonder we got blown out by USC.

All of the NBA commentators think that it's just like Lebron and you can hand him the ball on every play and win that way. That's not how college works.

Houston is beating the crap out of Cleveland State. No upset there.
Saw some of that game...Cougar High still gets too sloppy at points in the game. They need to clean things up if they want to make the Final Four.

Admittedly, they ARE the only team in Houston worthy of watching right now...although it looks like the Texans are about to take the court. They have a tough match-up forthcoming against the Fighting Tony Buzbee's...

Loved Buzbee's statement yesterday, that this wasn't about money and fame, he already has both. As for the timing with possible trade or free agency, he doesn't know because they are not one of the football teams he follows.

It would be nice if the hearings and trial would be held at Berry Center with zero safe distancing. I would pay to watch Buzbee and Rusty square off, but the bigger problem is the quality of some of the judges in Harris County.

Ohh, is Kansas going down in the first round? They have a 1 point lead over Eastern Washington with 10 min left.
