NCAA Tournament

They'll have a tourney seeding watch party in their spacious trophy room. They have a boot sliding competition planned after it just in case they don't make it. :lmao:
Yeah, but they would have won their conference if they were still in the measly Big 12.

Me listening to aggie friend discuss this.

I'm seeing Texas as a #3 across pretty much every website projection with Houston, Arkansas as other 3 seeds. I've seen all sorts of other teams as the 4th but Kansas and WVU come up as possibilities.

Edit: Wow, Bleacher Report has us as a #2 updated about 1 1/2 hours ago.

If Houston wins this afternoon, I think they’ll nail down a 2 seed. Although whether it’s truly deserved is another topic. I’ll root for them unless they’re in our bracket.

I’d love to get a 2 seed, but I think 3 is more likely. Regional politics come into play. We’ll see.

I’m very interested in the Houston Cougars. They’ll get a 2 seed, and with a win this afternoon over Cincy for their conference title, they shouldn’t be in Gonzaga’s region.

They beat Tech, and beat Memphis twice, but have three losses—each to very pedestrian teams. So there’s really no accurate gauge measuring how good this team really is yet.

I hope they’re not in our bracket so I can also root for them.

I'm rooting for them too. Their freshman Tramon Mark went to my HS so I'd love to see them go as far as possible. Hopefully we aren't in the same region.

The Houston Cougars are killing Cincy 80–47 and will win their conference tourney. Their big guys are very athletic. They have a bit of a tendency to hot dog and get careless though.

Houston has 2 seed written all over them.

Big XII didn't get much love from the committee. Our highest seeds were 3 besides Baylor at 1. Guess they don't view our conference as very good.

So it looks like we get Colgate in the first round. Obviously a joke team that we will steamroll.

Next up is the Wisconsin/UCLA winner. Haven't seen them play at all. Are either one a threat to us?

Son, are you on dope?

Texas drew ACU...winner of that game gets winner of BYU vs winner of MichSt/UCLA

East Region

Our most likely road ahead:

1st round - Abilene Christian
2nd round - BYU
Sweet 16 - Alabama
Elite 8 - Michigan

BYU could be a tough matchup. The road is moderately rough, but it could be a lot worse. Bama is one of the best 2 seeds, Michigan is the worst 1 seed. BYU gave Gonzaga a hard fought game, so that’s the big upcoming game. Although USC and Boise beat BYU and BYU has yet to beat anybody good... ACU is a warmup game. Not used to those in the first round.

Now if Mich State catches fire, we could see them. Coach Izzo and the Green do well in tourneys.

Okla St has a nice draw to go deep in the tourney.

So does Houston—keep an eye on the Coogs. 2 seed for UH in Illinois’ bracket.

MSU scares me more than BYU. They have been very inconsistent, but they have knocked off two #1 seeds and a #2 seed. I don't know if anyone else can claim that, and certainly Izzo is one of the best in the business come tournament time.

Second game will be tough. It will be with a team that can play with anyone in the country. It is certainly no gimme.

Yeah.

I'll be rooting for UCLA over Mich St, and BYU over Mich St if Mich St beats UCLA.

Izzo's teams are dangerous. Also, I think they had one real hot streak where they beat the 3 top teams in the Big 10 over 1-2 weeks (each of which 3 top Big 10 teams could advance very deep into the Big Dance tourney -- Elite 8 or Final 4 type teams). In other words, when this Mich St team gets hot, it gets red hot.
