NCAA 1 and 2 round games in Austin

The team is good enough to beat anyone outside of UConn when they're playing well. But they could also go on one of their scoring droughts and struggle offensively. Hopefully the team can win the first two games and then worry about the other games.

no times set in the NCAA brackets. Probably the AAS story would have it or the texassports.com article once they get it up. I am just going to take the day off. Cover my bases.

I bet the team is really deflated! This draw was just not right! The 8th seeded team should have been in the UConn bracket and that was not the horns!!!

I'm sure the committee looked at the 3 games against Baylor....none were even competitive. Baylor was the lowest of the #1 seeds, so we seemed to look like the lowest of the #2 seeds. And we've had some pretty ugly wins lately, as well. But I think we've got a good set-up to make it to the Elite 8. So, they gave us some help, I suppose. Almost every team, after the 1st round, could be problematic for higher seeds, and we look pretty "safe" in the first 2 games.
Might as well take on UConn in the Elite 8 vs the Final 4. Less pressure and, perhaps, catch UConn looking past us....if we get that far.
I haven't seen Arizona State play this year, so I have no way to compare ...except to look at the records, etc. The Pac 12 is stronger than the Big XII this year. If we could have won 1 against Baylor, we'd have gotten the 3rd #2 seed.
Now let's just concentrate on getting our offense moving again. And let's move on, win 3 straight games, and set up a fight with UConn in the Elite 8. Sounds good to me!

A couple of weeks ago, we were ranked #5 by the committee. We lost to Baylor in Waco, made the Big 12 conference championship, and lost to Baylor again.

Arizona State lost at UCLA to end the season; then, lost in the quarterfinals to a Cal team not even being considered for the NCAA tourney.

Maryland and Oregon State we ended up winning their regular season championships, and tourney championships. I knew the committee would reward them for that and bump them up over us.

How does that put ASU above us though??

Already stated earlier why I think that happened -- they couldn't have both UCLA and ASU in the same regional as top 4 seeds. OSU was a lock for Dallas, so no other PAC team could go there. Stanford was slated as the #4 seed in Lexington, so no other PAC team could go there (and they were intent on placing UK as the #3 seed at home).

No way ASU jumped us after their last two losses.

They better not be deflated. They were obviously considered the weakest #2 and placed accordingly.

Embrace it, prove them wrong, enjoy the journey.

Moooooo....
Not a Baylor fan...I'm a Longhorn but also a I'm a Big 12 fan...
Do you not remember how the refs cheated Baylor against Louisville a couple years ago ? Do you remember how they cheated us the last time we got to the final four and faced UConn ?
They cheat for UConn like they used to cheat for Tennessee......

I haven't looked at the bracket, but how many PAC teams in the region ? They put THREE Big 12 mens teams in a bracket TOGETHER...not just in the same region. So why couldn't they place women PAC teams anywhere they wanted ? Seeding ? They seeded a mens reg season co-champ Kentucky a 4 seed and Co-champ Aggy a 3 seed even though UK beat them in the SEC tourney ......

Asu is a lot like Texas, they're a good defensive team but struggles at times offensively. On a neutral court Texas would probably be favored. But as Moooooo said, that wouldn't have mattered.

It's not about conference teams being in the same region; it's about avoiding seeding teams from the same conference in the 1-4 lines in the same regional.

So, in the men's draw, OU is #2, Baylor is #5, and Texas #6 in the West regional. Doesn't violate the policy as only one team is a top 4 seed.

No. Baylor lost to Louisville because Waltz outcoached Mulkey.

Our loss to UConn was because we couldn't rebound their missed free throws at critical times, or stop Taurasi from taking wide open 3-pointers when they needed them most.

At Austin, Texas
19-Mar, 6:30 p.m. ESPN2

7 BYU vs 10 Missouri

19-Mar, 9 p.m. ESPN2
2 Texas vs 15 Alabama State

here we go: the start of one and done.
Looks we are deemed the weakest #2, therefore placed in UConn's bracket. Personally, regardless of which region we ended up in, we would run into a #1 seed in the Elite Eight. We just have to keep winning to get there.

Interesting to hear people saying they didn't want to meet Baylor again, we matched up poorly against S. Carolina, wanted to stay away from UConn. That pretty left ND, not exactly a pushover.

We need to beat a #1 to get to the final four. might as well be the best of the bunch. We will need to win three games before we find out just how much we have improved from last year.

You have to admit our best chance was ND....but, it is what it is....
we still have other teams we better pay attention to beforehand!!

FYI: Times are EASTERN...games listed above play 1 hour earlier....

Nope, Mooooo. For history's sake, I have to speak up for car54. It was a shameful job of coaching on Waltz' part to have his players maul Griner and a shocking failure of game calling that allowed Louisville to beat Baylor two years ago.

There were still four other players on the court for Baylor that night to help carry the load. Louisville shot lights out beyond the three point line, and that had nothing to do with the defense played on Griner. I'm never gonna be disappointed when Baylor loses.

Not happy with the bracket either, but I think we have a great shot at getting to the Elite 8 this year, and if so, that is still a step forward from last year. Don't think we have the team to beat UCONN if we both get there this year, but it would still be a step in the right direction for the program.

They really consider Baylor to be among the losers? They play basically in their backyard up to the Final Four. Sounds like a winner to me, same as UConn. It's not the same A&M and Louisville teams that beat BU in years past while BU is certainly stronger. I think they are reaching in making BU a "loser" in the draw.
Not sure I would agree that this team is "stronger" than that Griner - sims team that was upset by Lville
