Movie clips you love.

I much prefer The Caine Mutiny to A Few Good Men. (Part of that is, I can't stand Tom Cruise.) I would rather they had done a remake of TCM with Nicholson as Captain Queeg.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Yeah I agree you GJ about Tom Cruise - I am not a big fan and thought there were other actors that could have been the JAG in A Few Good Men. Nicholson was the right actor to play Col. Jessup and that is why I like that scene.

I have never seen Caine Mutiny and am afraid to click on the links. Will they spoil anything? I do intend to watch the movie.

snek, spoiler alert - do not click on the links above to Caine Mutiny if you have not seen it and you want to watch it.

Agree with WorsterMan. Do not click on the links if you intend to watch the movie.

And if you enjoy the movie, be sure and read the novel it was based on. The time frame in the novel is about 3 times longer than the movie, as it begins with Willie Keith entering Midshipman school to earn his USNR commission and continues after the mutiny and court martial, to the end of the war.

And the account of the court martial is considerably more detailed. Greenwald's questioning of a Freudian psychiatrist is priceless (but had to be left out of the movie, given the standards of the 1950s).

Spartacus

Unfortunately I couldn't find a widescreen HD clip of this. (FWIW, back in 1991 I got to see the restored film on the big screen in Houston. It was glorious.)

I have not watched this particular clip in a while - I am LOL!

WARNING - turn the sound down if you are in the office or if young kids are in the area and can hear this.

Link has ads, but I'll post with the text below:

Joey: Wait a minute. I know you. You're Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Roger Murdock: I'm sorry, son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot.

Joey: You are Kareem! I've seen you play. My dad's got season tickets.

Roger Murdock: I think you should go back to your seat now, Joey. Right, Clarence?

Captain Oveur: Nahhhhhh, he's not bothering anyone. Let him stay here.

Roger Murdock: But just remember, my name is...

[showing his nametag]

Roger Murdock: ROGER MURDOCK. I'm an airline pilot.

Joey: I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense.

[Kareem gets angry]

Joey: And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs.

Roger Murdock: [breaking character] The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.
