Most Horribly Miscast Movie Roles

alright, the Conqueror wins.

There's another good one with John Wayne in a cameo as the centurion in The Greatest Story Ever Told. He has one line "Truly this man was the son of God". Director told him he should say it with awe. On the next take, he said "Awwwww, truly this man was the son of God".

Too bad it didn't make it into the film.

Sorry to do this to a fellow Horn, but McConaughey as a top theology consultant to the President in Contact is about as unbelievable as it gets.
"Sorry babe, gotta go. Have a cabinet meeting".

James Caviezel as Jesus in "The Passion". I mean, he totally doesn't even look like him.

And for the 5th Element "lovers", the worst casting goes to...

Tim "Tiny" Lister, Jr. as "President"

Then again, when the movie is as bad as 5th Element is, I guess he's perfectly cast.

John Wayne as Gengis Khan

John Goodman as Babe Ruth

Will Smith as James West

Tom Cruise as Lestat

Clint Eastwood in "Paint Your Wagon"

Tony Curtis in "Spartacus"

Glenn Close in "The Natural." She is definitely not the girl next door (or farm). I think that is the only part of movie I do not like.

Jack Nicholson in "The Departed." I love the show but he irritates me as the mob boss. He does a fine job but he seemed out of place to me.

I agree with earlier post about Angelina Jolie in "Good Shepard" Totally unbelievable.

ttt. Piper Perabo is awful in Coyote Ugly. I mean I know it's supposed to be a cheesy role, but she is awful, just awful. Facial expressions, voice inflection. Jon Lovitz could've played her role better.

John Wayne as Ghengis Khan is definitely the overall winner. Two that haven't been mentioned:

Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan in Hunt for Red October...should have been Harrison Ford

Wesley Snipes as Webster Smith in Risin Sun

Others on here I strongly agree w/:

RoD as Betty in Flinstones
Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction
Samuel L. Jackson in Star Wars

Semi Tough. I could buy Burt Reynolds as Billy Clyde Puckett -- hell, he'd already played a QB in The Longest Yard. And he played some college ball. So he was at least believeable as BCP. But no way is Kris Kristofferson Marvin "Shake" Tiller. I could not believe he got that role.

And Jill Clayburgh as Barbara Jane Bookman?? Dan Jenkins wrote that character to be "so pretty it makes your eyes blur." And in no way does Jill Clayburgh blur anybody's eyes. Not on this or any other planet.

some very good nominations here... mine isn't anywhere near as good but it's always bugged me.

Drew Berrymore as a charlie's angel????? Never Been Kissed... perfect, 50 first dates... ok i'll buy it, ET... she was golden. But she belonged no where amongst a cast that included Lucy Lu, Cameron Diaz, and later Demi Moore. just made no sense.

So Wayne as Khan wins. I think we have a concensus on some top contenders:

Keanu in Dracula and Much Ado About Nothing. Actually, his part in Dracula now functions as comic relief for me and my friends. The rest of the movie kicks ***. He about ruined Much Ado though, all that allsome acting thpppt.

B ODonnell as Betty. Seriously? Think man. Whoever cast that is a stone cold idiot.

Denise as Christmas Jones, nuclear know it all. It didn't work, not for one second. Other Bond chicks have worked, ***** Galore in Goldfinger comes to mind, this one didn't.

Maguire wasn't that bad as Peter Parker. Remember, Parker is supposed to be a geek somewhat. It's Snaggletooth as the girl that is just so wrong. I was excited thinking they would fine some absolutely hot red head since that's what Mary Jane was. Nope. Far from it.

BoogityBoy got owned on Downey, Jr. as Iron Man. You could see it coming, but upon seeing the movie, it surpassed expectations.

Nic Cage sucks in a lot of things (Con Air, 60 Seconds) but I submit to you a terrific failure, Wind Talkers. The movie could've been a great one about a crucial part of the Pacific War and they got it all wrong, most of all centering it on Cage, since we have to have it center on a white man and not the Navajo. And what a whiny ***** to center it on. Much better choices here.

A 58 year old John Wayne playing the eldest brother in the "Sons of Katie Elder." The youngest brother must be about 18 since he is getting sent off to college.

Danny DeVito in Hoffa, unless the character he was portraying was five feet tall.

Barbra Streisand in The Way we Were. Where do you see chicks that ugly with guys like Redford?

Michael Keaton as Batman?? A 5' 9" guy with no chin?? Please.
