-Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns

Bosworth's a decent actress, but she had no business being in that film. It's surprising she was cast considering how much Warner Bros. had riding on that film, but I'm sure Kevin Spacey had something to do with it, as well as the studio feeling it needed a "hot" young actress. The Lois Lane in that film was supposed to be a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and the mother of young child. I just couldn't buy it with Bosworth in that role. When she mentioned how Superman had left them five years earlier, I wanted to scream out, "Five years ago you were in high school!"

I will say that Kate Bosworth's performance made me appreciate Margot Kidder's.

Too bad TV isn't the category, because then the answer would be Dennis Hopper in Season One of 24.

I guess Isiah Thomas as a basketball coach/executive doesn't count, either.

And JCDenton is right about Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble. Betty was smokin' hot, Rosie is more smoked ham.

my answer is Gretchen Mol in Rounders.

Shes a very good looking actress, but the way she played her character made her virtually useless to the entire plot.

Ben Affleck is good in small doses in roles best suited for him. In Hollywoodland or in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Nick Cage is good in certain roles too, Weatherman, Lord of War, Raising Arizona, Matchstick men, Adaptation are good roles for him. He pulls off roles like Gone in 60 Seconds and The Rock well enough.

My first thought was Charleton Heston as a Mexican in A Touch of Evil.

Edward G. Robinson in The Ten Commandments. A minor part but, wow, miscasted to the max.

Hiliary Swank in The Black Dahlia.

Gene Hackman as Avery Tolar in The Firm. Tolar was described as a charmi g handsome player-type who would be able to sway cruise to cheat on his wife in the caymans. And then have the skills to nail thewife too. Hackman is a great actor, but a handsome lady's man......NOT!!

He's a perfect Lex Luthor though

Jack Black in King Kong is the first thing that came to mind for me.

Keanu in Much Ado About Nothing came dangerously close to ruining the movie.

Angelina Jolie (in blackface) as Marianne Pearl.

Any hot chick as "a renowned forensic psychiatrist" or similar crap (Tara Reid is probably the most egregious example)

Best casting: Nic Cage in "Vampire's Kiss"

Denzel Washington in the Pelican Brief (wayyy too polished for that role, didn't believe he was a journalist for a second.)
Hayden Christianson as Anakin (see above comments).
Denise Richards in the Bond film
Matt Damon in Bourne Identity (not that he didn't do an adequate job with it, but there's no way you read Bourne Identity and think "Hey, that's Matt Damon!)

Denise Richards in that 007 movie. Getting and idiot to play a nuclear physicist has to be pretty high up there.

The whole hot girl playing some super-smart character is so tired.

Elizabeth Shue went to Wellesley and graduated from Harvard. While her Government degree wouldn't prepare her for real-world cold fusion work, she seems a little more believable to me (at least) then Ms. Richards as a scientist.

Harvard > El Camino High School

I tried but I really can't come up with a better selection than Costner as Robin Hood.

Edit: after reading Michael's post below, I have to agree that Keanu in anything not called "Bill & Ted" is also a top notch choice.

Keanu Reeves in anything not named Bill and Tedd's
Wynonna Ryder in that ****** Aliens movie.
To those that say Kilmer in Batman I give Michael Keaton in Batman

Honestly I thought there would be some X's and O's type breakdown of film when I clicked on this thread.

In reply to:

Kurt Russell in any non-comedic role. I'm looking at you, Tombstone.

Also, Dana Delaney had no business being in that film. Jason Priestly?

Heck, I think the only good casting calls may have been Kilmer and Sam Elliot.

That may have a lot to do with my not liking that film.
