Mavs chances against the Nuggets

This may be a stupid question, but I thought Dallas resigned Diop. What happened? They need a more athletic big man for this series and they just don't have it.

Hollins will be your man. And he's half of who you got for Diop. Matt Carroll was really supposed to jack up the offense but he was never able to hit the broad side of a barn. As it turned out Hollins has exceled with energy and at 7'0" he has length if not bulk.

Hook'em!!!

The intentional foul gone wrong probably should have been called, but you have to make sure Carmelo doesn't get a shot off.

Cuban started to go Kenny Rogers on the Ch. 8 photographer (same one who was on ESPN this week discussing the Cowboy bubble collapse).

Probably should have been called? It was as clear as ******* day that it had to be called and anyone with a brain in their body knew what they Mavs were going to do--I guess perhaps that is why it wasn't called.

That and Dirk took some horribly off balanced shots twice down the stretch. He also could have taken the shot clock down three more seconds on his last shot.

You should inform the refs that you intend to foul so they know to look for it. If Carlisle didn't do that then this loss is on him....

Regardless, this Denver team is solid and a much better team than the Mavs. I think Denver could take out LA....

My point was, if Anthony found himself still safely in possession of the ball with a wide open look, then that foul was not effective enough. It was a foul, yes.

Agree that the game was lost in the minutes before that shot.

I'm not sold on intentionally fouling there anyway. You risk the refs calling Mello in the act of shooting, or not calling it at all. You play straight up D, as the refs don't want to decide a game and usually won't call the foul on the last play.

I also would have liked to see Dirk drive to the hole and try and draw a call instead of shooting the fall away. And yes, Dirk went to the same clock management class that Mack went to.

From the DMN Mavs Blog:

The NBA office just released the following from Joel Litvin:

"At the end of the Dallas-Denver game this evening, the officials missed an intentional foul committed by Antoine Wright on Carmelo Anthony, just prior to Anthony's three-point basket."

I wouldn't be so sure about Mavs window closing. There is a lot of talk about the Mavs trading for CP3 which could be huge towards making them a force again in the West.

Paul going to Dallas is wishful thinking. While I believe one should never say never - professional franchise owners do stupid things all the time - the improbability of that happening is augmented by the fact that Paul loves it in NO and the fans love him. If the Hornets think they have money problems now, wait until they get rid of Paul and see the fan base totally abandon them.

Chris Paul? Yea Right. Chris Paul is right behind Kobe, Lebron and Tim Duncan as far as un-tradeable players. You just don't trade the best PG int he league for expiring contracts and a SF that smokes green all summer. Ok, Maybe the clipper would do it. Plus there are probably other teams that could put together a better trade package. Hell the Spurs could send all their expiring contracts and Tony Parker, and that'd be a better trade.

Interestingly, the same guy who missed the foul at the end of the Dallas-Denver game missed Fisher fouling Brent Barry last year.
