Mavs chances against the Nuggets

I think OUE is correct - Denver in six. I can see the Mavs getting blown out in one game, but the other five should be competitive (5-6 points or so). But does it matter who wins this series - can either of them beat the Lakers?

Really? George Karl has made it to the NBA Finals once and didn't win that. He has lost in the first round seven of the past nine years - and one of those years he didn't make the playoffs.

He has certainly been a very good coach at getting his teams into the playoffs, but doesn't have any more skins on the wall than Rick Carlisle, as an example.

Impressed w/Denver. They're long, athletic and deep. If Smith, Andersen and Nene are putting up those kind of performances, the Mavs have no shot.

That said, Kidd played awful. We had so many sloppy turnovers. I realize some of those were due to great defense, but many were just uncharacteristic of our typical play. Dirk put up nice numbers, as I expected, despite getting a little rattled at times. Terry hit some nice shots, but they did a nice job of swarming him, denying a lot of good looks.

Howard was active, but was definitely affected by the ankle problem sustained in the 2nd quarter.

They'll need to take Game 2 if they hope to extend the series.

Kidd played his worst game in a mavs uniform. Expect him and our bench to be better 2nd game. Hopefully Thuggets won't get as much in the paint next game.

I find it sad that nene gets more respect from the officials than dirk. That being said the turnovers killed us also once josh turned the ankle it was over you could see it in our faces. Even after he came back he was about as useless as antoine wright.

Well I never said 3. And overall the shooting% was still bad. Feel free to add but not correct like that....especially making comments like Kidd had one of the greatest series he has ever had.

well this is about the worst 4th quarter start the mavs could have possibly wanted. similar to game 1. close until the 4th and now denver is taking over.... ******* pathetic. blah

Dirk lowers his shoulder all the time when working inthe post.

Mavs are just wearing down, and denver getting eeeaasy buckets.

Mavs just got shell shocked in the 4th quarter. I think the Mavs can win the home games, but I see no way they can win in Denver.

I still think the Mavs can can win 1 or maybe 2 at home and take this to 5 or 6 games. But in this one it wasn't even close.

Denver beat Dallas in the following categories:
FG%
FT%
Off Reb
Def Reb
Tot Reb
Assists
Steals
Blocks
Less TOs
Points

Look at the point differential when Terry and Barea were on the court....-21 and -18 respectively. Denvers has a deeper bench and is using it. Dallas just can't keep up with these younger kids.

Three good topics: Damp, JET and Berea.

Damp - too slow-footed for Nene. His best chance is matching up against the more traditional big guys like Yao.

JET - Not getting clean looks on the 3's, though he got better as the game moved on. The short open shots seemed to bother him.

Berea - Seems totally spooked going to the basket. Against Spurs he knew he could get there uncontested. Against Nuggets it's like he's looking over his shoulder afraid he's going to get the ball slammed back into his grill.

JET and Berea will get more comfortable at home. Damp ain't going to get any faster and Nene won't get any slower unless someone else guards him.

Maybe the Mavs can only play the Spurs in the playoffs, since thats the only team they can ever beat in a series, LOL!!!

Mavs & Spurs are getting old!!!!!!!
