Looking towards the 2016-17 season . . .

I took a look at UConn's schedule just to see how Geno scheduled knowing that he no longer has the "big 3" on his roster:

Nov 14 - @ Florida State
Nov 17 - Baylor
Nov 20 - LSU
Nov 22 - Dayton
Nov 29 - Chattanooga
Dec 1 - DePaul
Dec 4 - Texas (Jimmy V Classic in Uncasville)
Dec 7 - @ Notre Dame
Dec 11 - @ Kansas State
Dec 19 - Ohio State
Dec 21 - @Nebraska
Dec 29 - @ Maryland
Feb 13 - South Carolina

All but three teams are from the power 5 conferences. And, DePaul was a Sweet 16 team last season and an annual Top 25 program. That leaves Chattanooga and Dayton as the only opponents from smaller conferences.

While we might not be ready to handle a schedule like that night in and night out, it should be the goal in the next few years if the program continues to get stronger.

I would add that Connecticut has no choice but to play a challenging/difficult non-conference schedule as their American Athletic Conference is a cake-walk (most of AAC teams last year had an RPI ranking of over 100), except South Florida, in order to raise their RPI and justify their tournament seeding.

Quite shocking: Connecticut's AAC has an average RPI ranking of 162.1. That's worse than the Ivy League at 144.5, Atlantic-10 at 131.1, Colonial Conference at 158.6, MAC at 157.2, West Coast Conference at 136.7, and C-USA at 160.6.

Think how much worse the AAC rating would be without UCONN.
Considering the ceiling for non-UCONN teams in the AAC is a distant second, what's the Over/Under on years for Travis at SMU before using the job as a stepping stone upward?

This type of schedule with nationally Televised games and winning in the NCAA tournament is what attracts top 10 recruits! I think this is a great move by Coach Aston!!

Oh no doubt, and I agree. Just wondering if we're not understating the difficulty of the B12. Going to lubbock & Ft. Worth isn't what it used to be. There are really no games outside of maybe KU that you can really sleepwalk into and win. As good as that is for me as a fan, me as a coach knows how scary that is. The fact of the matter is that kids will have some nights where they don't really bring it. Having that kind of night vs Incarnate word and having that kind of night vs South Carolina are very very very different that was my only point. Don't expect us to come out of this unscathed. More like a 10-2 clip which is more than acceptable.

Hopefully, Jamie Carey will bring some new offensive ideas and plays. I'd like to see more backdoor plays and more cuts to the basket.

Did not realize Jamie was still involved with USA Basketball. If it provides UT WBB an opportunity to enhance/create relationships with youth coaches and Jamie can use it to refine some of her ideas, it's a win-win for UT.

Conference schedules out tomorrow. After their brutal nonconference slate, would be nice to get an easy win to start:

As I watched our women's Volleyball team play at OU tonight, it reminded me of how tough a time our women's hoops team has in Norman. Hoping we get a win in Norman this season, and get over that mini-hump.

I like the white shoulders and white trim on the bottom of the shorts. the white numbers look much more crisp and appear to be easier to read.

I just received a free ticket invitation to the men's Texas TipOff at Gregory on Oct. 20.

Do the women do something similar? If so, I missed it last year. Will be very interesting to see if Joyner and Alecia are back and ready. And what the Ann's are all about. See what I did there with that alliteration?

Btw, looks like Sug is getting after it in the weight room. Nice. Also, looks to have recovered almost all the muscle loss of that left knee ACL.

What's the issue with Joyner?

I don't know.

I can't locate it now, but someone posted a video (I thought it was in this thread) that showed a Cooley workout in which Joyner and Alecia watched from the bench. It was several weeks ago.

Glad I saw this on @TexasWBB since I seem to miss so many of our players' birthdays most of the time. Happy Birthday to my favorite player on the team:
