Longhorns vs. Cajuns

Seems like with the skill level, nice play calling/designs and good lineman displayed by #23 ranked Louisiana, that this is a game Herman would have lost.

Great start. No more Marylands!

Week 1 Prediction results are posted. I will post the Overall Standings at some point during the week. Only 1 poster picked LA La to win

I like what I saw. Pretty good discipline, no turnovers, no delay of games on first down, blocked extra point, solid special teams and two quarterbacks performed solid. Congrats Sark on your first win.

Card was amazing. JWhit had his best game ever. O-Line is an issue. Bijan was Bijan.

Aside from Card, to me the story of this game was Steve Sarkisian. He took a RS freshman that had never started a game and had him playing like a seasoned veteran. Great play calling. And his insertion of Thompson late in the 3rd quarter with the game still in doubt — and Card playing flawlessly — was amazing. No way Mack, or Herman, or almost anyone else has such stones. Stroke of genius.

Then there’s Kwiatkowski. His D shut down a very good offense with a seasoned and elusive QB. Very impressive.

Coaching can make a difference. Based on what I saw today, I am very encouraged.

A few random observations from a very untrained eye:
1. All phases appeared well prepared and ready to play.
2. Our special teams coverage units were not an embarrassment.
3. We didn't commit any turnovers.
4. Had a few more holding penalties than we should. Especially since several of them were committed by Kerstetter and Okafor, our most veteran O linemen.
5. No water was gulped in the postgame presser.
6. Nothing scared our coach to death.

JWhit interview after the game was awesome. Had a smile on his face the entire time and you could just feel the relief/release of finally being able to show what he’s got

At 2:00 minutes left in the second quarter, Card threw a TD pass to # 80, Cade Brewer. He plays a position known as "Tight End." Not sure if y'all knew that.
If you thank that is impressive, wait until Sark has 10 TE’s on the roster. They will be all over the field.

Card was terrific especially for his first start. Kept his composure during the rush and made good throws.
Glad that Bijan got his hundred yards. Hope that happens every game.
Would like to see a few more tight end catches.
Defense played well. Held the opponent to less points than i figured.
Great running back group. K Robinson looked good.
Nice win with a freshman QB against a ranked team. Go horns

Did you see the play where we had 3 TE in the game and a blitzer ran untouched to sack Card?
