Rain,
There are players that were born with a silver spoon in their mouth - see also Chrissie Sims. There are kids that have to overcome hardships to get the opportunity. One of my all-time favorite NFL players falls into that category because of parental problems. Casey had to overcome his dad's history and I applaud his father's changes in his life. Still that legacy was worn around Casey's neck in OKC. He comes to Texas, serves his time, graduates in three years. How can anyone not admire that story? Do I prefer him over another QB? Only if he earns it, which he did this year. Does that give him the keys to the throne room in 2022? Hell, no.
The kid did the right things, represented our University with class and dignity. I wish he would stay, but wish him the best. At the same time, I am not prepared to anoint one of the remaining three as the next VY. Prove it to me.
