Lache Seastrunk's Favorites

No way he goes to Auburn!

Laphroaig10,

Just curious- what are your sources for the above post, and should I assume you are a fan of another school?

Interviews with Auburn's scout and rivals sites. I'm a member of both, so that should help the assumption making process.

Paging Aunt Jen! We need something, anything to make us feel better. If you're out there, give us shout. We would love to hear from you!!

This is one I really don't understand. Lache could play in front of all his friends and family every week as a Longhorn. The Horns will also be a top 10 team every year he's here. He's also the perfect type of runningback to fit our offense and take advantage of his skills in space. I think he and Gilbert would team up nicely.
The other schools he's looking at are far away and don't fit his running style. IOW, he's a little undersized for the SEC.
I just don't see what's holding the kid back from pulling the trigger on the good guys.

This. I don't get why he wouldn't play an hour away from home. UT has an obvious need for RB next year, our system is perfect for his style and # of reps he would need to get. If he goes to another school I would suspect under the table dealings. I just wish the best for him but damn he needs UT and UT needs him.

I don't think we should assume underhanded dealings if Lache decides to go somewhere other than UT. While from our perspective it makes perfect sense for him (and obviously, for us) to come to the 40 -- proximity to home and the chance for his HS friends and hometown fans to come watch him, the ability to shine in a system that would put him in space as often as possible to take advantage of his quickness and elusiveness, the opportunity to play for his state's flagship program and a team that will compete every year for the national championship -- in the end, a kid and his family will make the decision they feel will best suit him. From everything I've read about Lache, he seems to be an outstanding young man. If he goes somewhere else, while we all may disagree with his choice, it is ultimately that: his choice. To assume that choice (if it's not UT) was made because of "under the table dealings" doesn't give Lache and his family credit for making a choice based on what's important to them, be it academics, location, friends within the program or simply a feel-good experience on a campus visit.

That said, he can find everything he needs in Austin. And I certainly hope he does.

Do you feel better? Is your sarcasm meter broke? I was joking, I wish him the best. I am a Temple alum so I don't care where he goes as long as he succeeds.

From so many experiences in the recent years when the big fish who gave us so much hope went away somewhere in the end after protracted waits from us, I am officially NOT expecting Lache to come to UT.

I have come to the realization that there have just got to be some things that we do, that some recruits just do not like - whether it is our stress on wrapping them up early, or our way of putting honest/unavoidable pressure on them as the "last guy (or the only big name) we are recruiting at his position" etc etc. The guys who simply want to give everybody a chance to recruit them and take their time deciding, perhaps cannot deal with that way of recruiting. May be the player simply does not want to commit early and does not like feeling the whole Longhorns nation's eyes being on him, making him feel guilty for even delaying it - as though all the horn fans would just keel over and die if he doesn't become a horn ... After a few months, it all gets pretty old and weird .. And the player says to hell with it, I am just going to LSU or Auburn or USC or wherever.

It is not Mack's fault either. Do we want Mack to change his style of recruiting, hell no. He does what he does in an honest way and has been successful at it. We should rather probably just accept that there is a side to that type of recriting, that probably does not work in the case of some big names, for nobody's fault.

Anyway, I just don't feel Lache will become a Longhorn. May be I am just somebody burnt so many times by the "waiting and waiting big name". I am accepting the reality that we mostly get all the big names early, and really do not get any real bluechip within even a few months of signing day.

I agree with Jay. We have a great class right now if we keep all of them. If we get anyone else it will be a "sleeper" from either in-state or out of state. We just don't get the big names after a certain point. Let's be happy with the class we have and any more will just be gravy.

We may get one, possibly two more big names when all is said and done, but Seastrunk's may not be one of those names.

Early May, and unlike the rest of the schools out there, we're speculating on the last two or three to wrap up next year's class. It's good to be King!

Cool, you are so right. Already a great class, and every one of the 5's that comes on board just adds to the fun. I fully intend to drink to that one.

I say we get Lache, but that's a pure guess.

Lache's teammate Derrick Davis of Temple - is he of the Kenneth Davis, who played for Temple in the late 70's, family? I know it's a common last name but have to ask anyway.

I know we probably wont get him, but I could imagine the NCAA basically just giving us 2 NC's right off the bat based on our last 2 recruiting classes.

Seriously though, he has a line from hell to block for him, receivers to catch passes from one of the best Qb's out there (Him or Connor Wood) and a defense that will get him on the field enough to wear down other teams.

I know other school could may have great personnel surrounding him, but Auburn?

If Lache Seastrunk's teammate's uncle played on the same NFL team as our freshman QB's father, that should trump the Auburn OC's son being Seastrunk's church's pastor.

Looks like USC just got a verbal from Trajuan Briggs, a decent RB recruit from CA. And Mack Brown (the RB from GA) has Auburn at the top of his list.

Come on down Lache, we love you.

Apparently he has been making frequent trips up to Waco of late. He was on the sidelines for the Spring Game and by 'those in the know' he and Robert Griffin have become good friends.

I still think it is likely between USC, Texas and LSU but my Bears are apparently making up ground.

I would love it if Lache sees a few more reasons to stay close to home,, and he can see Robert Griffin all he wants from Austin.

I also would love it if he narrowed it down to Baylor and Texas..

I get it that Seastrunk is really into the recruiting process, and enjoys being pursued from sea to shining sea. Still, if it's true that he began by being a big Horn lean, it feels like he's looking for any alternative to the good guys. Either that, or he's having the devil of a time finding two or three schools to his liking. Just in the last couple of months, he's loved LSU, USC, Auburn... It's Seastrunk's right to play his cards close to the vest as far as how he's really leaning, but it would be good also to be the proverbial fly on the wall and know how Seastrunk's really leaning. Hey...this offseason feels like it's gonna last forever...
