KSU fans

FYI, for those curious.

If you take out Beasley's 10-21 shooting night, KSU is 12-48. That's 26% (Beasley included they shot 33%).

Texas is 18th all-time in winning percentage; KSU is 47th.

Texas is 30th all-time in total wins (will likely rise to 27th or better this year); KSU is not listed among the top 50.

Guys it's like Tech and football games...these people are so starved to be great at something that they take it WAY over the top when they are finally a bit competitive. They don't udnerstand how to be good fans, because normally all they do is lose and *****. So when they are good, they just aren't used to it.

And I'm pretty serious here. Texas fans are USED to winning and have suffered some bad losses, great wins, and generally just been around the block. These guys were totally out of their element in a big matchup on national TV...and they acted like idiots.

I thought there was a problem with the speakers on my TV all game...the nonstop booing...a longhorn player files 10 feet and lands on his face and somehow that ISN'T a good call when a kstate player picks up a foul..jeez.

Oh, and one more thing -- it also stems from the utter contempt on the faces of Beaseley and that coach of theirs. Those two are crazy. Beaz is one of the most arrogant guys I've seen on the college level. He just feels to good to be on the court with anybody else. Everytime he missed...he was fouled...everytime he fouled..it was a bad call..everytime he turned it over..it was the ref's fault. man, that guy needs to grow up.

that is all.

I think KSU fans can be summed up by the poster one of them brought in that read DJ aguSTINKS. That tells you about all you need to know about their basketball IQ.

I don't really care to argue the point, but how many of K-State's Sweet 16 appearances happened when there were only 16 teams in the tournament?

I thought there were questionable calls both ways, but the KSU fans were a little over the top in their non-stop complaining. They seem to lack the refinement, knowledge and sophistication you find in the usual Texas fan, like Steel Shank for example.

I'm rewatching the game right now, and less than 2 minutes in, we already have....

Ball out of bounds off Beasley
BOOOOOOO
Atchley blocks Walker
BOOOOOOO

I'm sensing a trend.

It seems to me the that the constant booing pisses the refs off and is actually counterproductive.. Or, maybe it's just becasue we keep winning games at these crapholes

This has become a league-wide embarassment. My unscientific rankings, based mostly on watching UT on the road:

Worst: OSU
2. OU (O-BOO as an earlier thread had it)
3. Aggy
4. KSU
5. Tech

I don't remember Missouri but I'll take the word of whoever mentioned them that they should be on the list as well. Aggy is only that low because many of their games don't have big enough crowds to be noticed.

In some cases (the Okla schools, Tech), it may be the football mentality that fans just assume is OK to bring into a basketball arena. In football, your team is only flagged occasionally (and sometimes it's un-booable like false start). So it's OK to scream at every flag.

Is basketball that complicated a sport that these morons can't understand what they're watching, year after year?

I've been to Manhattan twice for a couple of football games, and I have always held that KSU fans are the absolute WORST fans in the Big 12...WORST as far as a lack of understanding of the game(s) and a complete disregard of any manners.

Trust me...I went to CU for three semsters before graduating from U.T...KSU's fans are by far the WORST in the Big XII.

Until I see another student section being told to leave before the game is over on national TV, I'll consider CU to be the worst.

Not only did they boo when the refs called a foul against them but a foul against Texas as well.

I had to hit the mute button. it was getting on my nerves.

I can't believe we have gone this far on the atrocities of KSU without mentioning this:

don't forget your power towel

I realize it is a football-geared video but purplestatic himself was quite adamant that the power towels were ever-present at the bball arena as well. After seeing this video I have a better understanding of the typical KSU fan: a person who acts like a 6th grader. It really helps understand the inferiority complex, the booing, the idiocy...

The guy who was jumping up and down in the court side seat is the son of a big wig rancher in the state.

Here's a scathing article from Jason Whitlock --- ironic given his continual hatred for Texas, which will almost certainly be present again this year when the conference tournament returns to Kansas City.

Your post reminded me of how pissed I was at that column Jason had in the early days of the Big 12 tournament. That was many years ago and it caused me to lose all respect for Jason. Actually I never had any respect for him before that because I ddn't know who he was.

My dislike for him because of that anti-Texas piece stuck with me for more than a decade until recently when he wrote a couple of thought-provoking columns.

Whitlock's column was dead on, wasn't it?

Happens way more often than not. I disliked him intensely when I moved to Kansas, but after reading him closely for four years I decided he's much more thoughtful than most give him credit for. And that his well-known anti-Texan and anti-Texas diatribe was a calculated, tourney-time jab that was meant primarily to get a rise out of us, was mostly tongue-in-cheek, and worked extremely well in reaching the first goal.

I don't live in Kansas anymore, but I read his stuff fairly frequently and can't remember the last anti-Texas thing he wrote if it wasn't that long-ago tournament piece.
