We are in for a special treat if we end up with both on the same team. ENJOY!

well - i just wish we could see some of those between the tackle highlights - for all the top rated backs, not just gray

all these top rated guys have the long run highlight reel stuff, darrell scotts were completely ridiculous. every run was an 80 yd TD

i wish they would put out videos of the 5 and 10 yd runs, its just so hard to evaluate a kid when hes not getting touched and running though big holes. i know they use their vision and speed to exploit the holes they get, but you won't get that kind of room to run in college

im not saying gray isnt the next adrian peterson or ricky williams, but when it comes to highlights, its hard to tell the difference when every top back's reel looks the same, long TD after long TD. i wanna see the reel with the tough yards, then you can get a better eval

and as far as the stats and state championships - didn't gilbert pretty much never lose a game and won multiple state titles? theres alot of guys with crazy HS stats that dont take it to the next level.

Im still giddy that we are recruiting all these top rated guys - and im real excited about their potential - but you never know until they actually prove it on the field in D1 college games

some are saying gray is 'special' - there is no absolutely no doubt that he is special at the HS level, he's already proven that. the question is can he be 'special' at the college level. nobody knows that yet

mk, here is a video of Aledo playing Lake Travis last year. Lake Travis has a very good defense and as you can tell by the video they were playing defense to stop the run. Also Lake Travis won the state championship in the other div in 4A football. So they are no slouch. But you see really no opening for him to run. But if you watch all the video you will see him break tackles and get a few 10 plus runs when there is nothing there.

thx for the link. yeah this is the kind of film that gives you alot more to look at

For me, Gray is only slightly better than Trey Williams.

For me, Gray is slightly worse than Malcolm Brown.

For me, Gray is slightly better than Lache Seastrunk.

For me, Gray is about the same as Christine Michael.

For me, Gray is better than Jermie Calhoun (never a huge fan of his).

For me, Gray is slightly better than Michael Goodson.

For me, Gray is better than Emauel Moody.

For me, Gray is slighly worse than Jamaal Charles.

For me, Gray is definitely worse than Adrian Peterson.

Thats about 8 years worth of top RB talent coming out of Texas. May have missed a few here or there. Ranking is something like...

Adrian Peterson

(gap)

Malcolm Brown
Jamaal Charles

(small gap)

JGray/CMichael

(small gap)

MGoodson/TWilliams/Seastrunk

(gap)

Moody

(gap)

Calhoun

Your mileage may vary...

Interesting analysis, Bundy. Very thoughtful.

And I echo Third Coast's sentiment.

There's little doubt Gray runs behind a stud o-line, but there's also no doubt that he's very, very fast.

I35 was correct on the Walsh/Aikman order. Aikman was the guy, better than his predecessor (who can forget Steve Pelluer?) Trader Jimmy figured Walsh was not as good as Aikman, but was a valuable commodity. Jimmy had an ego that didn't imagine winning only one game. Next draft they needed a pass rusher, but drafted too late to get Derrick Thomas. They did have the ammo to get Emmitt Smith, so it worked out.

I find it laughable that not only is someone already rating Brown up there with JC, but that there existed that large a gap between AP and JC. Perhaps you meant solely on their status coming out of high school, and if so, then you've got Brown and Gray mixed up.

TCU is the hometown school for him and with their Big East participation he knows he will be in a BCS bowl each year he plays for TCU (remember UConn was the best the Big East had to offer last year). No other school can say this with as much certainty as TCU.

TCU cannot guaranty anything. Yes they were good this year and likely would have won the big east. But that says nothing about what they do in 2012 and beyond.

The big east will be better in the coming years. WV, Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, and others will compete evenly with TCU in the long run.

No doubt tcu was better than us last year, but then so was burnt toast.SEC champ is and will be#1.

#2 will be the champ of the big 10, the big 12, or the pac 10; ergo,#3 is still the best they can hope for.

Understand now where you were coming from Orangeman. Unfortunately as long as the Big East is part of the BCS, #3 could be enough in some years to get to the Chanpionship game.

I think TCU will not have a walk in the park to the Big East title in 2012. That is the first year the Frogs compete for the Big East title. the frogs lost their star QB and some top starters on defense. The big East and the Frogs move closer in talent by 2012, not further apart.

I think the Horns have at least as good a chance as TCU to get into a BCS game between 2012 and 2016. In the Big 12 the first and second place team often get into BCS bowls. There is no way the Big East second place team goes to a BCS game.

I confess that i am not up to date following TCU and BE recruiting. I am prognosticating only.

If TCU picks up stars like Gray and others then not only will they threaten BE teams, but everyone else, including my beloved horns. I just don't see that happening consistently, over the long term.
