jedi

If you include the Clone Wars cartoons, Anakin has a much stronger record.

On that note, it also shows Grevious as a much more powerful opponent, thus improving Obi Wan's SOS.

Look, I can dork it out with the worst of them, but ultimately anything not part of the movies (even if deemed Canon by Lucas) doesn't really get to be included. The movies were intended for mass consumption, everything else was meant for fantasy trolls (myself included). As LHmatt said, on the biggest stage of the Star Wars universe, Anakin was an ineffectual wuss. He sucker punched a Jedi to become a Sith, and then sucker punched a Sith to become a Jedi again. When pressed in individual combat, his record was pretty underwhelming.

I'm glad they showed him killing younglings, so you can get how far he fell... but by not showing him on the main stage killing a real Jedi (holograms aside) he just comes off as a whiney assed childkiller who has only ever beaten one character of note (Tyranus) who possibly took a dive at the request of Palpatine.

exactly. i have never seen any of the cartoons, nor have i read any of the books, and i never will. however, i do know that what i have seen of anakin is that he is streaky and rarely steps up against the top competition. qui-gon calling him the chosen one is the same as calling harold miner "baby jordan".

obi-wan clearly has the best record out of all of them. he takes down greivous, who killed tons of jedi (hence the lightsabers), and he also made short work of the chosen one. and he also took out darth maul, who was no slouch, and also the first sith anyone has seen in thousands of years. seeing him was probably like seeing darrell royal roll out the wishbone for the first time ever.

Damn, it's scary how much people devote themselves to Star Wars. That whole site is a wiki, meaning that the public built it into the "resource" it is.

I think y'all are being unfair to Annakin/Darth Vader in ignoring the timeline.

When he fights Darth Siddious I, he is a rookie with only raw skills, and he still visibly winds him in the fight. The rematch is a ******* beat down, and Darth Siddious was exceptionally powerful.

His fight against Obi Wan on the lava planet showed that Annakin was a better fighter, he lost because of his arrogance.

After he got ****** up, he wasn't the same guy. Obi Wan II wasn't a real fight, and Luke I was Vader fighting to contain Luke, not to kill him. Luke II was half-hearted, at best, because Vader wasn't going to kill his own son (or let him be killed, as he proved).

Also, Obi Wan was clearly way more powerful than he ever let on, which is consistent with his character.

I think that if we rate Anakin/Vader just by what we see in the movies he doesn't seem so badass (with the exception of wiping out the Jedis in the temple). It seems clear to me that he, as a Jedi Knight, was being constantly deployed all over the galaxy to kick *** in the Clone Wars. This is why Padme was so happy to see him when he comes back from his missions since he is still alive. Anakin was waging war against ****** up killer robots for years before he turned against the Jedi. He was a hard-*** Clone Wars vet - but that is inferred, and is not directly shown or discussed in the movies.

Mace defeated Palpatine. Although a few don't like to think about anything not on screen, both the book and the screenplay indicate that Palpatine was defeated.

Which makes Mace a stronger Jedi than Yoda, simply because Yoda knew he could not defeat the Emporer and hauled *** out.
