Its Sarah Palin

I really hope this thread doesn't turn into an abortion debate.

Bottom line, a VP isn't going to have any impact on reproductive rights. It's one issue. There are many, many others for voters to consider.

What's funny is that the focus has shifted from last night's sermon on the mount to John McCain's VP pick.

Huffington Post? They are clearly not pro Palin but a quick look at their page shows Palin occupies front and center. Same with Politico, cnn.com, msnbc.com, Fox News, WSJ, ABC News' politics page, etc.

Can someone explain to me what experience as an elected official to an Executive Office that McCain, Obama or Biden have? I think she has more experience than any of them in THAT respect.

Don't Governors always make better Presidents?

Wind out of sails from the speech last night.

Oprah and her tears are now the 2nd story.

Let's hope the Obama camp talks about experience.

Kyrie,

I'm a member of the church of Christ, which is even more conservative than the SBC. I believe, and most in our church believe, that women should not hold a position of authority in the church.

However, we don't believe that women shouldn't be CEOs, governors, Presidents, superintendents, etc. God didn't tell us in the Bible to keep women away from all positions of authority. In my opinion, he told us how to decide authority positions in HIS SON'S CHURCH.

If it was my church or any human's church, I might have a different opinion. However, I defer to the big guy on this one.

I've said that all to say this...there is no doubt that conservatives can rally around this VP pick. I know several Huckabee supporters who are thrilled.

Sorry to rain on the liberals parade.

As an ardent conservative, I have resevations about John McCain, so I welcome the Palin selection. Talk about bringing some life and exuberence into this campaign!

As a slightly right leaning moderate non-party member who votes Republican about 60-70% of the time (but am seriously considering voting libertarian this time), I'm intrigued by this choice. I'm looking forward to seeing what my wife thinks when we talk about it tonight. She's a bit to the left of me and was absolutely wowed by Obama's speach last night, despite her negative feelings towards Biden.

I think the big thing that Palin brings for McCain that hasn't gotten much play in either campaign yet, but that I think could be a huge weapon for Palin, is the anti-Congress argument. She's the only one of the three that can really make that argument and it should be a winner - Congress has consistenly received lower popularity ratings than used car salesmen the last year or so. This is a huge area that she can mine if she's careful about it and I think that the "maverick" McCain liked this aspect of her appeal as much as the fact that she's a woman.

Should be an interesting couple of months.

Someone please tell me one thing that Obama has accomplished that is greater than what Palin has accomplished. Other than one year running a successful speech tour, that is it.

She is against higher property taxes and wasteful spending. She returned a surplus to the people of her state. She gets my vote.
