Iraq demands US leave their country

Apparently the Russians tipped us off as to where he would be
We recently gave them some info that saved Russian lives, so they gave us a general in return

Also, Ive seen claims that Iranian social media networks are going nuts in celebration of this action. I know one Iranian here, he is happy. He said the media calling Soleimani a "hardliner" is incorrect, that he was close to “moderates” like Rouhani and Zarif.

CNN etc is livid. Yes he was a horrid dude responsible for hundreds of thousands including 600 Americans but CNN wonders if we should not have done this because it could anger other militant Muslims
CNN would gave been against killing Hitler or Stalin.

The US State Department claims Iran was responsible 608 deaths of US troops in the Iraq War. Qasem Soleimani led all Iranian and Iranian-backed forces in those operations. 17% of all US troop deaths in Iraq 2003-11 were orchestrated by Iran.

The US has now killed Iran’s top operative in Iraq and his Iraqi aide (Naem Qasm, the deputy leader of Hezbollah was also in the car) only about two months after the killing of the Iraqi leader of ISIS and his top Saudi aide. In the big picture, these events are not unrelated in terms of significance.

This guy is an expert on Iran

Netflix has a documentary called "Terrorism Close Calls" -- maybe some of you have watched it?
Episode 4 of that program detailed a plot by Suleimani's Qods Force that if it had been allowed to be put into action, would have killed hundreds of Americans in Washington, DC. See Designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - United States Department of State

Apparently Trump should have let him live to continue to plot and kill all over the region. Now the other terrorists will be mad and may retaliate .

The irresponsible MSM is once again trying to turn the American people against the president. Calling them pieces of dog **** would be an insult to dog ****.

Here's what's baffling to me. If Trump says nice things about Kim Jong Un, the media's reaction is to hassle him for kissing his ***. Frankly, I agree. We shouldn't be kissing Kim Jong Un's ***, and I don't like that Trump does that. However, if he doesn't kiss Iran's *** (like the Obama Administration largely did), he's demonized for antagonizing them.

Pompeo said the strike thwarted an 'active plot' for a major attack on Americans

The Dems are up in arms that Trump didn’t notify them of his planned strike or not getting congressional approval.

Am I wrong to think It’s a possibility that if it was know by democrats that someone in their party is capable of leaking that information so the enemy would be prepared? Their hopes would be that the results of the strategy would fail to make Trump look bad? I really believe they would allow our servicemen to be killed if it would make Trump look bad. I believe they hate Trump that bad.

There are many tweets coming from people in Iraq Syria etc thanking Trump fir killing Soleimani including families of people he had killed
We should not forget the hundreds of thousands of others he killed.

Knowing how much Trump hates war this action shows he loves America and Americans in harm's way more.

Markets reacted, of course, some rotation out of stocks and into Gold (Schlumberger, Halliburton, Transocean and ConocoPhillips all up). And oil .....

Here is a great article offering a solid look back at what was happening in the last Administration -- Obama Strikes a Deal--With Qassem Suleimani - by Lee Smith (from July 2015)

Obama Strikes a Deal--With Qassem Suleimani

" ..... The negotiations were about something else entirely—they were about what Obama has described as a new geopolitical equilibrium, which would stabilize the Middle East and allow the administration to further minimize its role in the region. The way Obama described it publicly, this new security architecture was going to balance Iran against traditional American allies, like Saudi Arabia. However, it soon became apparent that the White House wasn’t really balancing at all, but had rather chosen one team over the others, Iran. Obama made his preference for Iran and its allies clear—in Lebanon, Syria, and most obviously in Iraq where the White House ordered air strikes on ISIS positions that allowed various Iranian-backed outfits, under the leadership of Qassem Suleimani, to take Tikrit.

Obama likes Suleimani, and admires his work. As the president reportedly told a group of Arab officials in May, the Arabs “need to learn from Iran’s example.”

In fact, they need to take a page out of the playbook of the Qods Force — by which [Obama] meant developing their own local proxies capable of going toe-to-toe with Iran’s agents and defeating them. The president seemed to marvel at the fact that from Hezbollah to the Houthis to the Iraqi militias, Iran has such a deep bench of effective proxies willing to advance its interests. Where, he asked, are their equivalent on the Sunni side? Why, he wanted to know in particular, have the Saudis and their partners not been able to cultivate enough Yemenis to carry the burden of the fight against the Houthis? The Arabs, Obama suggested, badly need to develop a toolbox that goes beyond the brute force of direct intervention. Instead, they need to, be subtler, sneakier, more effective — well, just more like Iran.
And it’s largely because the Arabs haven’t assembled their own version of IRGC-QF, and instead rely primarily on the United States for their security, that Obama thinks the Iranians are a much better bet. From Obama’s perspective, the Sunnis aren’t going to stop ISIS—in fact, they helped create it. However, the Iranians can do it, and plenty of other things as well. They can make sure Iraq stays stable—or the administration hopes Iran will play that role because it has no other options. Same, the White House thinks, with Syria, where Iran can manage the inevitable transition, after Assad steps aside, thanks to the Iranians, or is killed. The way Obama sees it, the Quds Force can be the administration’s boots on the ground...."

There are also stories in Israel that they were going to take out Suleimani in 2015 but that Obama warned Tehran. Can you imagine?

Also back in 2011, Obama hosted the Iraqi Hadi Al-Amiri at the White House.
Al-Amiri is who was leading the attack on the US Embassy in Iraq in the last couple days, in concert with the embedded Iranian militia
Al-Amiri was in the car with Suleimani along with a Hezbollah commander, plus their aides.
They were meeting to execute the next attack on Americans in Iraq (which included the kidnapping o Americans in Iraq - which is why State told Americans to leave)

Wonder what Obama thinks about the deaths of these people? If he does speak publicly about it, what are the odds he will be honest and tell the truth?

Interesting that Obama et al had so little understanding of what Iran would do.

Remember how the media/Left posted pictures of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein? Think they'll publish Obama's friendliness with these Iranians? Just wondering.

It's sickening. This is why I can't believe the rational Liberals that I know continue to deny the bias.

@Joe Fan Do you have a link anywhere about the Russian's tipping us off on his whereabouts?

Publicly, the Russians are saying the US action here was "short sighted"
I doubt they would ever publicly admit it
What I posted above was chatter from the US mil intel side who claim to have sources

Speaking of Hezbollah, one of their operatives in the US, Ali Kourani, was recently sentenced to 40 years in prison. He was scouting JFK and 26 Federal Plaza and "even daycare centers" in NYC, according to DOJ.

It seems possible if not likely this is exactly what Hadi Al-Amiri was doing while Obama had him inside the White House back in 2011.

In addition, many say Suleimani planned the 2012 attacks in Libya
The US was making its weapons supply to Syrian rebels out of that CIA Annex in Libya, and Suleimani knew it
And thus he was responsible for Benghazi too.

The WAPO obit --

General Suleimani, sensitive, suffering poet at helm of noble defense force, dies at 62

Solid thread here by a good writer on the reaction over there, if anyone is interested

it keeps going

CNN is now forced to report that more than credible intel showed Soliemani was planning an imminent attack on Americans .
Would Dems rather have had the attacks happened?

CNN is going to hate this, because it does two things. First, obviously they hate that this story makes Trump look good. Second, they hate that it discredits an Obama narrative, which is that Iran is generally ok and should be appeased an trusted.
