It was assassination, even if a marginally justifiable one.
I have read many articles from the author of the linked article. He is freedom oriented and rational. He provides data from various sources about reports, and draws some conclusions. I generally agree with them. The imminent threat statement didn't ever ring true to me. But Harsanyi's does, whether I agree with the specific action or not.
The headline says it all really. But I would add a point. We can't trust the government's account of things either. The military industrial complex is a thing. They are a part of the Deep State, and have their own interests in reporting. The situation in Iraq/Iran is no different. It makes it very hard for anyone to really know what is happening and what should be happening.
For me to truly approve of military action in Iraq/Iran, I need to understand and agree with the underlying goals and see how the specific action achieves those goals vs. escalates violence unnecessarily. This piece hints at some of those things but not near enough.
