I would imagine that emissions are increased as a result of moving manufacturing or energy production etc. to other countries with less stringent controls. One example would be solar panels which are primarily sourced from China. A country that is notorious for dirty manufacturing processes.

While I do believe CC is a real thing. I also believe it has been exaggerated. These prices (electricity in England) are the result of forcing the switch too far, too fast. Innovation can be encouraged. It can rarely be forced without spending gobs and gobs of money.
