Must have been a function hosted by the UO Young Republicans. But but but, I was sure these students want to prevent climate change and protect the environment. Must be some kind of hypoc.... I mean mistake.

Almost every liquid that consumers purchase is more expensive than gasoline. Yet the average fools complain about the oil industry. We’re so lucky it’s as inexpensive as it is. Imagine the price without taxes. If government would just get out of the way, we could drive the Russians bankrupt.lol, oil execs would never think of passing such a penalty to gasoline purchasers
Survey: Most Americans want oil execs to pay for climate change

Russians are able to get around sanctions but they can’t escape low oil and gas prices. Drill Baby Drill.Part of the reason gasoline is inexpensive is because it is a feedstock for all industries and there aren't innovations you can use to increase its value. Add that to the huge economies of scale used to meet demand. Other liquids simply can't tap in to such a scale.
That isn't saying I am not amazed by the oil and gas industry. It is one of if not the most impressive developments of the modern world and facilitates every modern comfort we enjoy today. I am a huge fan.
But are you powered by gas or electricity?I am a huge fan.

All liquids bought..like drinks…are more expensive than gasoline. Only water is less. So yes it’s a serious declaration. And I’m not just including liquids that we drink. For instance, a quart of oil, rubbing alcohol or any other liquid that we buy is cheaper.Seriously? Other than water, there isn't another liquid consumed more than gas. You can't compare retail lemonade to gas.
They tax it because it is valuable and people will pay for it regardless of the tax.All liquids bought..like drinks…are more expensive than gasoline. Only water is less. To me that’s interesting. Oil takes millions of years and we spend huge amounts of money to mine, refine and distribute it. Then we tax it deeply and it’s still only $3 per gallon. That’s amazing despite the economies of scale.

What we have here in is a failure to communicate. Gasoline is amazingly cheap product, especially when one considers its complexity and functionality. Most coffee and even bottled water is more expensive. But further disparaging comments would be altogether, at this point, even more fun and interesting. You completely whiffed on my point.

Guys - the commonality is simple: if it sells or moves, tax it.Yes and gasoline (crude oil) no matter how complex it is and how long it takes to be made by mother nature is exceptionally abundant and cheap to extract and refine. Especially when you talk about wells producing with practically zero overhead for decades. It should never be over $2 a gallon if we completely open production lines.
I can buy a gallon of water either bulk or in bottles for less than $2.50 a gallon. A gallon of water from my tap is pennies. Choosing to buy a 750ml smart water for $3.50 is dumb, but it's a choice. Idiots who pay for a $7 starbucks is for the convenience, certainly not because it tastes good. You can't compare convenience items to a necessity and say "hey its cheaper than coffee". It's not a valid argument when you can get the basic necessities for much cheaper. I guarantee I can make a gallon of folgers coffee at home for under $1.
My point is the vast majority of people need gasoline for commuting, its abundant and should be cheap, but not everyone can afford to waste money on convenience items you're trying to compare it to. It's apples and oranges.
Most of us buy both apples and oranges. It’s amazing to me when people complain about gas prices when they regularly and without thinking buy so many other items with so much less utility. I’m proud that Texas has been such a part of cheap energy prices and I’m sick of other people complaining about the price of gas.Yes and gasoline (crude oil) no matter how complex it is and how long it takes to be made by mother nature is exceptionally abundant and cheap to extract and refine. 86 is a lovely break from the norm in Texas, and you know that
